Do they sell advil or tyelnol on board?

Or should I bring my own? I hate taking all these bottles of OTC medicines. They take up a lot of room esp since I have several precription medicines that have to go. Anyone know how much they sell it for and if it's the single doses?

yes they do, but naturally its pricey. I pack a travel tube that holds 10 tablets you can buy for $1!! its a small tube and its probably $1 for 2 tablets on board...

They are available in the gift shops. If you don't see them out, ask a CM. They are also available in the ports.

But remember the gift shops aren't open all the time. With my luck the time I would need them would be when the shops are closed.

Our local drug store carries "trial" sizes of most pain medications, shampoo, suntan lotion, shave cream, deodorant etc........we always pack one trial sized bottle of everything we might need.

Because of the issue of availablity, I ALWAYS travel with a First-Aid kit. This is a relatively small kit that purchased/put-together for hiking. It comes with some small bottles and lots of pockets. I carry small quanities of alot of things (and it's not always easy to find - such as the one-use packets of neosporine):

Finger nail clippers
small pair of fisker's sissors
small pair of tweezers
neosporine (6)
wound wipes (3)
Bandaids (6)
Butterfly closures (3)
asprin (16)
peptobysmal (12)
rolaids (12)
cough drops (6)
betadine (TINY bottle)
large bandages (3)
small bandages (3)
bandage tape
alcohol wipes (3)
benadryl tablets (16)
insect bite sting ezze (3)
digital thermometer
mole skin (2 sheets)
eye drops (TINY bottle)
blistex

All this and more are organized inside this first aid kit that only measures about 6x5x3. Here's an example at REI - a company well known in the backpacking/hiking community.

I built mine by purchasing an empty 1st aid kit that came with a couple of small bottles (great for storing a couple of asprin and other meds) and you can find additional small bottles at hiking gear stores.

As I said, this was put together for when I go backpacking, so it's small and compact. Once I had one organized for backpacking, I started using it where ever we go. Even when you're in a hotel in a big city, it's still nice to have all these common otc meds at your finger tips.

I waaaay overpacked the OTC stuff last time, and you can get most of it on the ship. My guess is if you needed it desperately and couldn't get it in the shop the ship's medical facility could give it to you. I will be cutting back this time, but still bringing the basics, i.e. Advil.

For anyone who wants to put together their own little first aid kit or take a tiny bit of this and that, check out www.minimus.biz. They have teeny tiny sizes of everything... first aid kit sized meds, mini toiletries, etc. They even have sunscreen in little foil packets. If you like that kind of stuff it's a fun site to peruse.

Just make sure if your kit includes sissors, nail clippers, etc, to pack it in your luggage, NOT your carryon. Remember, they are still confiscating sissors and the like at airport security.

Wow, am I the only person who carries a little bottle with a few Tums, Advil, and Tylenol (all together) in her purse everywhere she goes? I feel like such a hypochondriac! LOL! But really, I've done this for years and years and my friends and family always know who to go to when a headache pops up or someone overeats.

Nope, I carry advil, tylenol, tums, and even children's tylenol in my purse too! Plus, bandaids, scissors, kleenex, alcohol swabs... and yes, my purse is heavy!
But you're right, everyone knows who to come to in an emergency!

I have the same thing. You can pick them up in CVS, Walgreens etc. I am headache queen, so I always have a supply f Tylenol on hand. These tubes are not only great for travel, but office, purse etc. You will pay ALOT for OTC stuff on the ship.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to get some travel size advil. I keep advil and other meds in my purse usually but in a plastic baggie so not to carry around containers. I read that all meds have to be in orginial containers so that's why i asked.

Good point. I remember reading that too, now that you mention it! I've just carried my little bottle of mixed meds in my purse for so long that I don't even think about it. I travel a lot and no one has ever said anything during an inspection...although if I'd remembered the Disney documents, I probably would have worried. Oh well, too late--I already went! I do know that PRESCRIPTION drugs must always be in their original labelled container for travel and I did that for my son's Immitrex, even though I usually carry the individual vials.
