Do they open up more rooms at the AP rate?

I have ASMu booked with the AP rate later this month. I really wanted to stay at Pop, but they were all booked up when I originally called. Do they normally open up more rooms later? Is there a chance I can switch?

I am experiencing the same thing. I think origianlly ASMU must have been the only value offered for this time... i have been told throughout the years that once a discounted room is cancelled, that it goes back into the "general system" not back as discounted room. I have been told this by management and others. Yet, cm at CRO keep encouraging me to call back. I too want POP or ASMO, although i am going for thanksgiving week and dont see anything coming up. Maybe we will fall in love with ASMU! at the ap rate or $49, i think it will be possible. let me know if you get your wish., i hope so, i will keep trying too.

Only info I can add is that I've gotten a couple of verbal confirmations that management often makes the decision to open all available rooms (or many) to AP and resident codes a day or two prior.

Of the 2 values that we have been to (ASMu and ASMo), we prefer Music the best.

Keep trying - I've called & been told nothing was available with an AP rate, & then called back within hours & gotten exactly what I wanted!

If you can afford the room without the discount then Yes. However if not, then you are actually limiting your chances of there being discounts.

Discounts are offered to fill unbooked rooms. If rooms are booked, there is no way for Disney to know that people will not keep them without a discount. They simply look at the numbers. If the numbers are up, discounts are down. That is why some discounts are offered at the very last minute, after some cancel rooms they will not keep.

It is simply economics. They want to sell these rooms at the highest price they can get.
