I can't remember the last time I received a confirmation in the mail. A couple of years maybe. I print mine out from the confirmation email but never needed it.
I always bring a copy of the email confirmation but have never needed it. It is always best to be prepared and have a copy in hand if there should be a problem.

I have received confirmations in the mail which arrived about two weeks later, you may print/save the email. But as the pp stated, we have never needed them at checkin. Although it's not a bad idea to have with you.
Printed confirmations from DVC have always been hit or miss for me. I received one for a few nights of my October trip this year but not for everything. I have made multiple reservations for this trip and cancelled some when waitlists have come through or I've been able to add nights myself. You can call or e-mail MS asking them to mail you a confirmation if you want but you may not get it. I've called and asked numerous times over the years with mixed results. I've also been told they are sending me a confirmation through the mail & never received them. I liked having the snail-mail confirmation since it usually listed the dates you would receive T & T or full cleaning. The last Mailed Confirmation I got was the same one you get if you book at a regular resort from WDW travel and did not list anything about the DVC services and is a bit confusing due to the terminology they use in regards to payment for the booking.
If you book by phone, they ask if you want e-mail or hard copy sent. On line I think they just send you an email notice. I have not looked for a 'send hard copy' check box when booking on line.
In addition to printing out the confirmation, I list all MNSSHP ticket numbers (yep worked out great the year my MIL left the tickets at home), ADRs numbers and AP voucher numbers if we are getting them on a trip.
I then make my own luggage tags since I do not get Mickey ones anymore. I guess I could mail something to myself but that just makes me seem crazy and pitiful. I miss my Mickey mail.
