Do they keep track of where you sleep?

Thanks to all who have been trying to help me with my "extra cabin" dilemma.

I just realized that if I can move people around with the rooms, I can make it work without an extra room.

Will DCL do that? If they won't, do they care if people sleep in the "wrong" room? Has anyone ever done that?

We sail August 13, but I can't get my TA on the phone all weekend - so frustrating!

From everything I've heard, they don't really care about who sleeps where. I know I've seen many reports of traveling family groups who put kids on the ressies of aunts and uncles or a grandchild on the ressie of a grandmother to avoid the single booking surcharge. For safety sake, just be sure your stateroom attendant knows who's where and you have the right number of life jackets for the folks who are sleeping there.

We have two cabins booked for our cruise next summer. A verandah cabin and an inside directly across the hall. DH and I will be in the verandah cabins, DSs will be in the inside. When we booked, we *had* to put DH and one DS in one of the cabins, and other DS and myself in the second cabin, because there has to be a person over 21 booked in each cabin. (Not 18, as a lot of people think).

But they don't care where you actually sleep!

You will get tags with your documents, and they will have names and stateroom numbers on them. I would just keep them as they are, if both cabins are your family anyway.

Since the luggage tag has Name, Sail Date, Res #, Resort (ship) and Stateroom number on it, I think all you would need to do is fill out the luggage tag with that information for the room you want it to go to. If they're preprinted, then I would just tag the bags according to where you want them to go. Since I think you're handling all the ressies that should be fairly easy.

DH and I switched rooms with my Mom and Aunt at guest services after we boarded the ship and most of our luggage was "intercepted" and sent to the new room number even then.

Great news!!! So, it's going to work, and I'm not going to have to shell out for an extra cabin. Excellent!

Absolutely no problem to do what you want.

Sailed on Magic in April '05. Booked an inside cabin for my sister, husband and niece and a navigator veranda for myself and other niece since that made the least cost. But put the opposite cabin numbers on the luggage tags since that is the way we actually slept in them. Went to guest services and had extra keys made to both rooms so everyone could get into the correct rooms. Just remember that any charges you make to your room key goes to the room you are booked in not the one you are sleeping in.

Our kids have the same President's week off every year. I have run two DCL trips for the school during this time. We are a family of 6 and usually book a Cat 1-2or3. Having the extra space as well as friends on board we have had slumber parties in our room. The concierge was great in that they brought extra pillows, blankets, snacks & movies.
Again, just make sure you have enough life jackets in the rooms. Your steward is only too glad to help.

Guest services will even issue an extra KTTW to a mom in order for her to have access to the kid's cabin. It will not be good for charging or boarding, but will allow mom to check on the kids, etc.

DCL knows that families do this all the time. FOr their own protection, you are required to book an adult in each cabin. They don't care who sleeps where as long as you don't exceed the number allowed in any cabin.
