Do they give us any money off when staying at dvc when paying with cash? Or is it just best to rent points?

Sometimes a 25% discount discount is available to members. FYI, I have found the AP rate to be better.

yes you can. I just made a ressie for SSR and used points for Sun - Thurs. and am paying cash for Fri. and Sat. and I got the 25% discount on the cash ressie.

The discount is only good for a member staying in a room. If they are available (not always available), the discount is 25% off the rack rate. In June, we have two nights on cash and five nights on points. But you can't use both points and cash for a single night.

I have paid cash at Vero Beach in December and this June will be paying cash for a Saturday night at Hilton Head. We do not get a discount for nonDVC stays (example - AKL). Sandie

It's not like AP rates where they release a block of months at one time. It's on a case by case basis. They look at the dates you requested and make a determination if they expect the rooms to be wanted for points reservations. If they expect that they will not be reserved for points, they will release a cash night. For October, at BWV and BCV rooms are usually sold out for points due to the food & wine festival, it might be difficult. Usually Friday and Saturday nights are easier to get since more members book Sunday to Thursday.

I have a cash reservation for OKW for Saturday May 7 and then points Sunday to Thursday. It would have been 48 points for Saturday, the member discount cash price for a 1 bedroom is about $330 with tax.
