We are taking my DS 2 (almost 3) to WDW in May and have been debating whether to take our own stroller or just get a rental. We are leaning towards just getting a rental, but I'm wondering if they ever run out of them at the parks. We definately couldn't go without one at all. Anybody ever run into this problem ?

We've taken two trips in recent years where we've needed strollers. I actually bought one stroller just for one trip because it was cheaper to buy a brand new stroller than to rent one for a week. Personally, I would take one with me and that way if you get a late start to a park, you at least have your own stroller. Also, there can be a lot of walking outside of the parks, just at your own resort or if you go to DTD etc, and in those cases it might be nice to have a stroller with you for the places you visit where they aren't available for rent. Just something to consider.

I also bought a new one for just disney world, cheaper then renting and I like to have it everywhere.

At some point during Thanksgiving week each year they stop selling advanced stroller rentals due to the high demand. I think this begins on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through the weekend. They stated that they could not guarantee a stroller on these days due to the crowds.

If you want a cleaner, more comfortable rental stroller, check out www.abbf.com. They are the best, and they never run out (at least our experiences, anyway).

We've rented a stroller many times in the last 4 years and they've never been out when we've needed one.

This has been our experience with ABBF also. They have very nice things, and much MUCH more convenient than waiting in line at the different parks. It was waiting for us in the luggage room when we checked-in. Great service!:thumbsup2

One of the best things we do on our trips is rent from ABBF; they have everything. In the past we have used their full cribs, strollers, humidifiers, fans, fridge and microwave, and toys. The OP was about strollers, and it was nice having it with us from the moment we checked in until we checked out. What a lifesaver (tripsaver I should say.):goodvibes Also the fact that everything was clean clean clean was worth more than I can tell you. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Anyone know what the stroller rental costs are? And what's the consensus recommendation for our son -- an energetic 4 1/2-year old who hasn't used one in more than a year. Is the walking going to be too much for him?

Walking at that age is fun for the first 10 minutes. . . better to have it in the event he does need it. Even if he is only in it half the time it is worth it.

BTW, another vote for ABBF and anything you need, in this case a nice stroller. We wouldn't do an Orlando trip without them.

My sister get a late start to the park????? Now, THERE is a good one!! Just take your darn stroller, Lora !

I think it's $8 for a single, $15 for a double, but I could be wrong.

Its gone up to $10 for a single and $18 for a double with a discount if you rent for longer.

I think for a baby to maybe a 3 year old, when you know your going to need a stroller I would bring one from home. Its comfy, familiar, clean and you are going to want it for the walk to and from the park from the bus/car/tram as well as in the resort. If your child is using a stroller at the zoo/mall etc on a regular basis then I would definately bring one for the trip.

At about that 4ish age is when it became much more convient for us to rent. We didn't need the stroller enough to be worth the hassle so we rented as needed. Usually for the longer days or just in the evenings especially at Epcot.
