Do they allow substitutions for the dessert on dining plans?

We went last year and were on the dining plan -- I did feel that it isn't similar to they way i normally eat at home, but it was a vacation so desserts were more acceptable. I was wondering if they ever sub a small salad instead of the dessert? Just trying to make the dining plan work better for us. I like not having to think about money while we are there -so the dining plan is ideal.

At CS locations you can sub an item with the purple snack logo in place of the dessert or beverage.

At TS restaurants you can ask what the option is in place of the dessert because it will be a pre-determined choice made by the restaurant - most frequently mentioned have been a small side salad or an additional veggie.

and be aware that although you can sub a snack instead of dessert at counter service, hardly anywhere has snack sized salads. Only the resort food courts I think. If a side salad is offered it is usually already included in the meal (for example the pizza at Pizzafari and Pizza Planet come with side salad) or you can sub the fries for salad anyway (eg Roaring Fork at WL offers cucumber salad alongside sandwiches if you don't want chips or fries). At a resort QS there will almost certainly be fruit options that you could use as the dessert snack as well.
