Do the water slides damage bathing suits?

Hi everyone. I've been to Disney World more times than I can count, but I've never been to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. I've been to other water parks and water slides. They sometimes damage my bathing suits. They'll get pulls in them, or "rubbed" thin. Has anyone noticed that at TL and/or BB? I'm just trying to decide if I need to bring a shirt and board shorts for the slides.

We go to BB and TL often and have never noticed any damages. They'll fade from the sun and chlorine, but never had actual damage done to any of them. I have no doubt it's possible to have damage, but we've been fine. The bottom of the wave pool at TL is really rough, so if you scrape along that, you could damage the suit I suppose, but more likely will get a nice "rug burn" on your skin.

I have never experienced this. Like Klayfish said, though, beware the bottom of that wave pool. Not for the very young or the faint of heart.

I know what you're talking about. Some water slides have seams that aren't perfectly smooth and rub the suit at the tailbone. i forget whether that happened at Disney's though, sorry.

I haven't noticed anything at BB. The only slides that have you in direct contact with the slide are the 2 speed slides, so that should help too.

Thanks for the insights everyone! Yes, it's those uneven seams that have eaten my bathing suits. Sometimes I've even ended up with bruises down my spine! Regarding that wave pool, an old coworker's husband got knocked off his feet, hit the bottom with his head and ended up needing stitches. :faint: Disney had to shut it down due to the blood.

Never had any bathing suit damage at the water parks, but last month I rode Summit Plummet 4 times in less than an hour and when I was back at my hotel that night, I discovered a bruise on my hip/butt cheek the size of my open hand, a black and blue color like no bruise I have ever experienced before.

Yes, as stated above, I have never had any problems on the slides themselves, but have gotten some fabric wear/rough spots from the rough edges of the pool & sitting on the "floor" at the end of the wave pools

Never damaged but my swimsuit is often not in the same position it started it off in!

LOL

The seams on the slides are all quite good. No really bad joints that I can recall. On Slush Gusher in BB, you will "catch air" a little over the last hump and the landing can smart a bit, but won't hurt the bathing suit. Just a bit of a wedgie.

LOL. Gotta love a wedgie. Sounds like Disney has good quality slides. We're going in July and cannot wait, but we haven't decided yet which water park we're going to. I will definitely avoid the edges of the pools and the bottom of the wave pool. :thumbsup2

I happen to really like my bathing suit, and we all know what a hassle it is to buy new ones. :scared1:;)
