Do the value resorts ever sell out in summer?

Just wondering if I will be able to book less than a month ahead in the summer? We are only going to go if I can get a cheap ding fare. We aren't picky about which one. This would just be a bonus trip. Are there any times to avoid a particular resort?

Also, is it safe for women to stay there alone? I worry about the outside doors and the huge layout.

I don't know about the summer room availablity but I can speak to the safety question.

I have travelled a few times to various places as a single adult with a small child. WDW is the only place I've been to that I felt 100% comfortable not having another adult with me. I stayed at ASMo last year and there were nights that we returned to the room around 10:30 or 11pm and I would do it again without a blink. It was the first trip that I did not feel the need to call home every night and check in with DH.

My DH is not able to get away from work much, so from time to time I take one of my kids for a long weekend trip somewhere. After my trip to ASMo last year WDW will be the only place I will travel solo.

I have tried to get a value room in the past and all of the rooms been sold out - but it is usually over a weekend. I have traveled to WDW several times with just my two daughters and never felt the least bit uneasy about the outside doors at the value resorts. You can always request a room close to the food court so it won't be secluded. Have fun!!
