Do the restaurants really care who orders kids meals?

Do the restaurants really care who orders from the kids menu? We are a family of 2A, DD15, DD8 and DS8. We were considering Spoodles and checked the menu online. The adults found items to eat, we found items for the twins, but it was a real stretch for our DD15. Would they care if we ordered from the kid menu for her?

We have never had a problem with our older son ordering off the kid's menu at WDW. He was 13 at the time and looking grown up!

We did not eat at Spoodles but we did dine at Artist's Point and Narcoosee's which are as upscale. That was Thanksgiving 2002.

I order off the children's menu at Whispering Canyon last month. I'm a vegetarian, and the only dish on the adult menu didn't appeal to me, and my server suggested the children's menu, or offered to bring out the chef. I was happy to have a grilled cheese and fried (I wanted to ask for ketchup!), so I ordered that off the children's menu. DH got the veggie dish from the adult menu.

BTW, the chocolate milkshakes there are WONDERFUL!!! I want to go back JUST for those!

this is something that worries me as well because i am a very picky eaterwhen i look over some of the menus i'm not sure that i would eat what's on them and i often find myself looking at the kids menus i do feel sorry for my dh because he is much more adventurous with his food and eats absolutly anything and is looking forward to eating at different places but i have this worry in the back of my mind about not finding something that i would like i have made some ps's(which i have posted)that i know i will find something

has anyone got any advice for a born worrier

My older DS15 orders off the kids menu at WDW restaurants quite often (very picky kid) and I have several times myself (very picky mom of very picky kid). We have never had any problem. We always ask the server if its okay and it's never been a problem. Having said that, I have to say that I read a post on the Boards not long ago about Spoodles. The poster's daughter ( I believe she was 13 or 14) ordered mac & cheese off the kids menu and the waitress said she would have to charge her double since she was over 12. I don't know if that was just an isolated incident or if that is always the policy at Spoodles, but since you mentioned that restaurant specifically I thought I should let you know about it.

Flying Fish is the only sit-down restaurant at Disney that I've seen try to prohibit it. Its menu says the kids' menu is for 12 and under. I've no idea if they uphold that rule. Some of the counter service restaurants say "for Mickey's little friends 10 and under" and and kind of thing.

One of my kids is somewhat picky, and he's gotten kids' meals at several Disney restaurants without a problem. He HAS encountered servers that insisted he needed two since the quantity would not be enough but not often.

Isn't the kid's (or the parent's) problem if it isn't enough? They shouldn't add their opinion about that.

I don't see how they can charge double if you only get a "single". I would like to see them try

Another option is to order off the appetizer menu. I do this quite a bit. I'm not a huge eater and most of the meals are way too much food for me. I know at Spoodles I often order off the appetizer menu b/c I love their dips and bread. They also have a yummy salad that I enjoy that is also on the appitizer list.

Just an FYI - when I ducked into Pinnochios to grab a kids meal, the woman behind the counter asked me how old the child was I was purchasing it for (I was by myself). Frankly, it was said rudely, but I just chalked it up to her having a bad day. I told her that the child it was for was 42 at the time, and really wanted a kids meal, not a huge greasy burger.
