Do the Resorts, change the comforter's at check-in

Well, head lice are brown, only the nits are white, and they don't move. Wonder what those critters were? Now bugs would bother me!

When I was a kid in Disney, in 1978, we had a room that was overrun with palmetto bugs at the Poly. My parents called to ask for the room to be exterminated, but we got moved, so did my aunt and her family since we had adjoining rooms. Bugs are a part of life too, especially in FL. Mgmt took care of the problem quickly and well.
I agree, lice and crabs are brown and almost microscopic. White crawling bugs sound like termites, which wouldn't have hurt them but still aren't fun to look at, much less share a bed with. And I wouldn't have waited until the morning. I would have been at the front desk, ASAP, in my birthday suit if necessary, complaining loudly and frequently about all the bugs in my room- that would get some action fast!

We are moving to Florida and one of the 1st things we were told is that Palmetto bugs are just something you will have to learn to live with. Personally, I think they are kind of cool, but no, I wouldn't want to share my bed with one...lol!

A used comforter is like a used towel, IMHO. I don't mind sharing with my family, but I sure don't want to share with anyone else. Will I still turn the room AC down to 60ish and snuggle into my used comforter? Yep! Will I try to wipe all memories of this thread from my mind? You betcha!!

At several Disney hotels I've seen comforters in plastic bags outside the rooms while the maid is cleaning, so they do change them sometimes!

Last trip we stayed at Wilderness Lodge and housekeeping was outside our room as we were taking things out and the housekeeper knocked and said she was making sure we were checking out and when we said we were she took a large bag containing a comforter and placed it on the floor inside our room. That surprised me beings we had been told at CBR they don't change them. I started wondering if it was because it was a deluxe resort.

I hate to throw something else in the mix here yall' ,but I think there's something else that may be even worse than the comforter...the mattress! I wasn't gonna say anything(and you'll probably wish I hadn't), but about 2 months DH,DS,DD, and I all made a quick weeked trip to Stone Mountain, not too far from where we live. We stayed at the Evergreen Marriott Resort and Conferance Center. A very nice hotel, and we had a very nice time.Well, about a little over a week after we got back DH broke out in an AWFUL rash that kept getting worse and worse, so I made him an app. to see the DR. Guesss what?? MITES!!! The Doc. says he's 95% sure he got them from the mattresss at the hotel.He said he sees it all the time.I had a few spots,but mine went away,DH was terrible.In the spot where they were at, he had cut himself ,and the Dr. said that the weakend area right there is probably why the just ate him up!!! We've stayed in hotels all over the world,and nothing like this has ever happened, hopefully NEVER will again, and I am not going to let it ruin our trips to come. My point being that no matter how careful you are, or how close you examine something you just never really know what might be there that you can't see, so you can either get over it and enjoy yourself, or stay home.I know I won't be staying home

Seriously though, I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. What a way to ruin a holiday.

We still had a great time, and are actually going back in Oct., just staying somewhere else ,for sure!!
Poor DH, he's such a trooper.At first I didn't think I was gonna get him back in a hotel ever again, but he's gotten over it. I'm glad, cause I'd hate to have to leave him at home...LOL!!!

I'm with SamanthaL, it's not really so much the spread and I'm not at all germ phobic,but the thought of what MIGHT have been done on those spreads ,that really freaks me out. And like DanDave says, this thread never existed, not in my mind. I'm hoping that I've forgotten all about it before our next trip in Oct,but, somehow, I think once I see those spreads on the beds it will all come back to me

When you spend $200+ for a room anywhere, I expect clean sheets, pillowcases and the comforter when I check in, the thought never occured to me to ask. We did have a cart with just about every new linen waiting outside our 1 Bedroom at Old Key West the morning of our check-out.

A phone call from me is going to be made questioning room cleaning protocol for a starting check-in.

Shame on Disney if it's their policy to let different familys share the same bedsheets - If they thought it was a money saver not to wash them for each check-out, imagine what the comfortors will look like if they have some policy like every 4-5 stays and guests start puttting them in the agatating washers because they dont want to sleep with someone elses somethings.

Pollyanna, Beings or Beings that is a common substitute for SINCE, at least here on the East Coast. Beings that I am going to be going out anyway, I may as well get gas is the same as SINCE I am going out...

Just a point of clarification for those of you who bring that Lysol with you to spray the bed...Lysol is only meant for hard surfaces (toilet seats, counters, etc....) It really does no good on fabric where both the germs and the Lysol are absorbed into the fibers of the fabric.

So--essentially, that Lysol does you no good for the bed!

In order to truly sanitize an item like a comforter, it needs to be washed with a germ-killing soap in a very high temperature water.
