Do the non-MK parks ever hit capacity?

I mean seriously...all I've ever heard of is the Magic Kingdom being closed due to capacity crowds. I thought that maybe I heard DHS was close to capacity during the "villains" special event, but still didn't hit it.

Also...how often does Universal/IOA close due to capacity?

Wow...yeah it seems that *if* the non-MK parks have been at capacity it is extremely rare...like once in a decade.

I'm surprised that AK reached near capacity more than I am DHS since DHS is so small.

Ahhh...that makes sense! I bet that was the only time it ever was since the parks is soooo huge and spacious and it just isn't popular enough to pack it out.

If I remember correctly, Islands of Adventure reached capacity the day they opened up the Wizarding World of Harry Potter back in 2010. In December of that same year, they had to close 2 days during the holiday week due to reaching capacity. Since then, I've never heard of them reaching capacity again. Not to say they haven't, it's possible they may have, I just haven't heard or read anything. That may change this year when they open the expansion to WWoHP. Chances are you may see both parks reach capacity since WWoHP now expands into the Universal side as well. Only time will tell.

Yeah...I knew the water parks do a lot in the summertime. The summer is when we almost always go to Disney and I believe almost every trip had one of the water parks being closed due to capacity.

Short of showing up at the turnstiles and being told a park is closed due to capacity, is there another way of finding out without actually going there? If I can check in advance we would just go to one of the other parks. Would it be listed on DME or the website or something?

Universal and IOA have closed to capacity when HP opened at IOA and also during Christmas week.I dont think they did in 2013, but it did in 2012 ,2011 and 2010( not everyday during that week ).It may do that again this Christmas with the opening of the HP expansion

At Xmas they often have it posted on the turnstiles where you pay to park (for offsite visitors). They have the 4 main parks listed and it says which are closed.

We're going to be there for the 24-hour event in May so I've been wondering. We're staying on-site, so I wouldn't see the postings at the parking lot, but maybe I'll swing by the front desk and ask there before heading out to the bus, just in case.

DHS closed while we were there a few years ago. It was during Spring Break.

Along these lines....just curious....what is the capacity for each park? I Googled and saw that MK was 100,000 and EPCOT looked to be somewhere around 130,000? Nothing was super definitive, but I couldn't find anything about DHS or AK at all

Nobody knows. Disney has never released actual numbers for closure amounts. It is all speculation.
