Do the magnets get stolen?

I just bought a really cute magnet for our first DCL trip next month with a "Halloween on the High Seas" theme. Then I read in a FB group that the magnets get stolen a lot. Hope that's not the case! Thanks

I've never had any of my magnets stolen. I always personalize my magnets with my name, so maybe that has something to do with it. As far as I know, nobody has taken any of my Fish Extender stuff either.

we made our magnets, so not sure anyone would necessarily want them (they're kind of obviously home made)...

but you never know...people can be very unpredictable....if they need them that much...well....whatever....not going to let it ruin my cruise..

I feel the same. I'd be annoyed but it wouldn't ruin my time. If they need a magnet with random peoples' names on it so badly they're willing to steal it, then I hope their life gets better because that's just sad.

Yes, they do get stolen. We had several stolen on our last cruise. Does it ruin your cruise? Of course not, but it is definitely annoying. I probably won't bother with them on our next cruise. One less thing to pack!

We had some stolen on our Alaska cruise last summer. We called and reported it and DCL decorated our door with their magnets. Definitely a nice jesture but not nearly as nice as what we lost. As PP stated didn't ruin our cruise, but disappointing.

Yes it can happen. I personally think most of the time when it happens it's just kids/teens messing around. Many times you will find missing magnets on a door further down the hallway. I guess adults could also steal them also but that's pretty low.

We've had a couple of magnets stolen. It's definitely annoying (and kinda sad). When we reported it, the next time we returned to our room Guest Services had made some new ones for us. Not like the ones we had stolen, but real nice of them (the big pink & yellow ones):

I think it's pretty low even if it's kids or teens "just messing around" as well. They are still taking something that doesn't belong to them and the result is exactly the same, you end up missing magnets.

I think if you're in a more off-the-beaten-path room you are safer than if you're near the elevator or the kids clubs.

I've never had any stolen. I am not very crafty, so people may not think mine are worth taking!

I've never had an issue. And most of my aren't personalized. That being said, I wouldn't put up any magnets that were expensive or couldn't be replaced.

We had a magnet walk away. Family members saw it a couple of doors down and knocked on the door to inquire. The people whose cabin it was on were clearly unaware of how it got there and incredibly apologetic.

I'd say, unless you have really cool magnets, they aren't being stolen, just relocated. As I was a kid once, I can understand how a group of kids walking around might think it was funny to do this. With that in mind, I won't put out anything I'd be heartbroken to lose.

But, if you can't find them "relocated" then they are stolen. Well, actually, "relocating" things from their proper location to an unknown one is still stealing.

The magnets we had stolen were labeled (on the front) with our names, room number, date of cruise. There was no way anyone could have removed those parts of the magnets and reused them, if that was their intent.

While not heartbroken, it did make me a bit sad that I no longer had the magnets I designed for use on the cruise. Once home I could reprint the picture for use in our scrapbook, but it's not the same.

We never have but we always personalize with our last name and stateroom number (so we have a collection of stateroom number magnets) and random information that make it clear they belong to us <3

Someone (maybe PrincessSchmoo?) on the other thread suggested taking a picture of the really cool magnet, then printing it and backing it with a magnet instead of using the original. You could still take your original and keep in on the inside of your cabin, if you like.
