Do the characters visit the hotels?

Hi, we are staying at the BWV in September and wondered if the characters still come around to the hotels?

I remember several years ago at the WL getting a phone call in the room from my BIL in the lobby, seems Chip and Dale were holding court by the little bridge that leads to the stream in the lobby.

We dashed down there at warp speed! I remember thinking, Gosh it's not like Harrison Ford or Tom Cruise were there. it was just two college kids dressed up like squirrels/chipmunks(can never remember which).

Anyway got some really good pics. We still talk about our mad dash to the lobby.

During the Christmas holidays many of the resorts have characters greeting guests in the lobby on select mornings. It was really quite nice. Our very first day we got off of ME and walked right into the lobby and were greeted by Mickey Mouse in front of the Christmas tree. No one else was there and we went right up to him and took pictures by the tree. Another morning they had Pluto there greeting guests. This was at the YC. The BC was doing the same thing only not the same character (of course) on the same day.

That's what happened when Wilma came through when I was at POR! Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Minnie (I think) were alternating in the lobby while the end of the storm came through. Huge lines!!

Years ago right after 9/11/2001, they had characters meeting some mornings in the lobby of hotels. I think this was called the Character Caravan. Disney did this since they cancelled the extra morning hours at the parks, because of the drop in toursim. We liked seeing the characters there, as my nephew was pretty happy about that. But when tourism started bouncing back, the early morning hours at the parks returned, and the Character Caravan was stopped.

I was just at the Beach Club and today (Monday) and also yesterday (Sunday) Lilo and Stitch were in the lobby from 12:30 to 3:30. I asked a CM and he said he thought it was going on every day until further notice. They don't do autographs or stand for pictures ... they actually play games and dance with kids (and some adults were participating too). The lobby had Lilo & Stitch music playing and it was very festive and fun. I hope it continues!!

Thanks di17090, we are close enough that I can run over! I will ask when we check in at the Boardwalk if any characters will be coming over. I remember in the late 90's the characters would come to the Contempory pool and swim and dance with the kids.

They used to visit the hotels. I think it was the "Character Cavalcade". Someone may want to correct me but, as I recall, they started it after they stopped offering MK "E-Ride Nights".

Then, they stopped Character Cavalcade with they started offering EMHs.
