Do the characters really hug you ??

On my first trip when I was a kid, I had an Eeyore hat on, when I met Eeyore he got all shy and embarressed by him being on my hat and gave me an extra big hug. Then Tigger proceeded to come over and knock it off my head and stole it :rotfl:
When I went a few years ago, I met Cpt. Hook and he took me by the arm and tried to lead me away. His handler had to tell him off.
Character interaction is great and they'll only do what you're comfortable with. :goodvibes

Yes, the characters hug, but that's where they draw the line (no matter how much I beg). Did i just say that last part out loud?

Pluto is the best hugger ever!

Pluto is the absolute best! He hugs, licks, drools, and tackles. And will look for Mickey if you ask him to!

Pinochio actually proposed to my 8 year old daughter.

Normally I would be upset at a young man proposing to my DD, but he was pretty cool about it. :lmao: :rotfl:

I get a hug from Eeyore every trip!! The characters are amazing! Usually very willing to interact with you:goodvibes They can be so funny, have her talk to them even if they don't talk they motion and stuff! They are great! Hope she gets a big Mickey Mouse Hug and a Pooh one for you :woohoo:
Magical Wishes:wizard:

How did you get that one!!!? I love it with the dog :goodvibes

AK's kennel is inside the actual park, so you have to take your pet through the gates. Therefore, as you know, AK is the only park where there are meet and greets outside of the park.. you can take your pet to take pictures with the characters before you put him in the kennel!

I'm tempted to take my cat one of these days. He walks on a body collar and leash. :)

Yes you are correct but it has to be okay with the characters and the character handler...you also have to know your pet....it was adorable, you stand in the line with everyone else (Dillon also loves to ride the tram)

Typically they're okay with it. But yeah, true about pet and all. I love when pets come and visit. :)

I think it depends on each character also. I am a 24 year-old guy and was surprised to see Aurora at Epcot, so I jumped up from my bench and got in line. When I tried to put my arm around her waist, like the big flirt that I am, she moved away! When I tried again, she got very direct and asked me to take her elbow like Prince Phillip would. If you are asking about your daughter, though, I am sure Aurora and the other talking characters would hug her.

As you can see from my avatar, Maleficent knows when one of her loyal subjects needs a hug. I think this was just before mile five of my half-marathon.

MY DD's 1st trip she was not only hugged by many of the characters but Snow White gave her a big kiss on her forehead, thus making her my DD's fav princess still, one year later.

One VERY tired girl with Snow White's lipstick mark on her forehead. She wore it all night! :lovestruc

P.S. This is my 1st time ever posting a pic, so I hope I do it right.

In the Mexico pavillion, the ladies in front of me were wearing Mickey ears, and Donald was NOT happy! :rotfl: He tried pulling the ears off their heads! I told him that he was #1 in my book, and I loved his sass! I got a hug and some flirting (he did the "call me" hand sign).

The characters from Up were also very friendly. As you can see, my Mom was quite taken with Carl Fredricksen!

We also got kisses from Lilo and Stitch, Jiminy Cricket was quite the gentleman, and Sulley from Monsters Inc. is like hugging a giant throw rug :rotfl2:

Not all of the characters are as affectionate, and if they're villains, they may be downright mean (in a Disney manner, of course!). I find that face characters weren't as "huggy", but that could be because I'm an adult. They were very chatty and friendly though! Snow White and I had a heavy discussion about apples! Stay away from the red ones ;)

Exactly. The characters are very good judges of who's into the physical contact and who can do without. At our Crystal Palace breakfast I got hugs from everyone, big tight ones! But they knew DH wasn't really into it, they really only put their arms over his shoulder for the pics.

I will second their spot on judgement! We went to Chef Mickey with our daughter, and then 13 and 15 year old sons. The 13 year old is pretty easy going, but the 15 year old has "Disney issues" and was only along under duress. He came to the character breakfast only because we were checked out of our hotel and he had nowhere else he could stay.

It was late and Donald kept coming by to play. He messed with the 13 year old repeatedly.... had us rolling in the aisles..... but somehow had the intuition to leave the 15 year old completely alone. Perhaps he's telepathic........

AK is a great place to get pics with your pooches if they're staying at the kennel there. We got a few pics of our puppy with Pluto a few years ago. We told Pluto that she had a little crush on him, and he got all embarrassed. Too cute!

Yes indeed! As Sabbie said, and it seems as if she knows some characters pretty well (!), they love to hug kids (happy grown-ups, too). It's one of the many reasons WDW is my favorite vacation destination - so many people, some furry, some not-so-furry - try their best to help you and your kids have a wonderful, and yes, Magical, time! DD has enjoyed hugging and being hugged since she was 3 1/2 years old. She's almost 11 now, and although she says it doesn't matter much to her because she's "not a little kid anymore," I see that special smile when she gets a hug from one of her big, furry friends.

This isn't a hugging pic, but it's the first time we ever saw Marie (she was in France), and DD was delighted:

Thank you to all you wonderful CM's and your character friends - we love you guys!

:sunny:

Marie was a delight. She would rub her face against us, and the little girl ahead of us had something dangling from her pen. Marie was very taken by it and couldn't stop batting at it ;)

Try not to take it too personally. The princesses deal with a lot. I am sure that an over-friendly male adult guest has been encountered on more than one occasion so they try to head it off while staying in character. From what I understand, Jack Sparrow no longer greets guest due to inappropriate behavior from some adult female guests in the past. It's a shame some people do not understand boundaries. My DS would have LOVED to have met Capt'n Jack.

Dillon (posted above & seen below) is a POINTER...just like PLUTO....Dillon GROWLED at Pluto ! I was shocked.....:confused3

Love seeing all these pics....the children are adorable !

I just thought that I would share a couple of kissing pictures since there are a ton of cute pics on this thread:

This is my DS after a Cinderella kiss at 1900 Park Fare:
