Do TAs (Teacher Assistants) qualify for the Teacher Discount at the S&D?

Just wondering if TAs are eligable for the Teacher Discount at the Swan and Dolphin. I am a TA at my local college, and have my ID that says Teacher Assistant on it.

you had to show a state teaching certificate and a recent paycheck stub. However, from what I have experienced and seen on this board, the days of having numerous rooms and great rates for the Teacher/Nurse discount may be over.

Good luck!

But college professors don't have to have a state teaching certificate. Neither do private school teachers. So are they ineligible?

or pre-school teachers in many cases. I think the paycheck stub is enough, do you get pay from the college for T.A ing? Bring that.

Good luck.

They said as long as I have an "ID" that states i am a "teacher assistant", which i do. So i hope i have no problems. I will let you guys know when i get back!

My daughter is Student Teaching and is an Employee of a local private school. This is what I found on the S&D website:
Teacher and Education Support Staff Discount
All teachers and educational facility administrative personnel (includes colleges and universities) can take advantage of the TEACHER discounts. If you are a teacher with a certified teaching certificate, or you are employed in a school as an educational facility administrator you can take advantage of the TEACHER discounts. This would include teachers aides, substitute teachers, and administrative staff. These job types will require a Work ID or letter from supervisor on company letterhead stating employment or a recent Pay Stub.

Hope this helps -

ok, What about nurses assistant? We have state certificates!

No, I'm sorry--the discount is for licensed nurses only.

Hey, I'm a certified teacher and am going back full time teaching in the Fall. Just realized I'd be eligible. How good are the discounts? Is it good enough to give up the location of the WL? Can I reserve 2 rooms with it?

We got the teache discount at the Dolphin last year. We had just moved and my Dh did not yet have a copy of his FL teaching certificate or a paycheck, but the principal wrote him note saying he was employed there and that was good enough.

I just booked the Swan for June and got the $149.00 teacher rate, which was the same rate for the Dolpin last year. I think its worth it. We like the location between MGM and Epcot, plus the Boardwalk, the heavenly beds and the grotto pool. They have kids activities by the pool all day long.

Yes, you can get two rooms with that rate.

Do you know if there is a code to book these online or do they have to be booked through reservations?

Transportation IMHO is MUCH better than at WL. You can walk to Epcot! You can take a boat to Epcot and to MGM and you can walk to the Boardwalk. There is a bus to MK and to AK but they run enough to make it comfortable. :teeth:

Sounds like a good option then. Which is the preferred hotel (swan or dolphin) as far as location, proximity to grotto pool, bus / boat stops, etc? Maybe we'll have a chance to check it out next week. Who am I kidding? We won't...
