Do Summer Discounts Exist? Or Should I Rent Points?

We are fortunate enough to be planning a return trip to Aulani, this time at the beginning of August. Does Disney typically offer discounted rooms in the summer months? Or am I better off going through David's to rent points?

In Hawaii the busiest months are July and August because of California school summer recess. Next comes easter period. The next busiest are Jan February due to the Canadians and Midwest snow escapers. The slowest are the shoulder months, Sept to Mid November, Late April, May
