Do stores have circus mirrors in their fitting rooms?

Because I swear when I bought the new clothes last week I thought I looked REALLY good! Tried everything on again today at home and thought "Girl, what the heck were you thinking?" So my question - Did Loft put those wavy circus mirrors in their fitting rooms without telling me? :confused3 Anyone else have this happen?

I think they do. Just so you'll purchase more. Then the reality kicks in when you get home.

When I read the thread topic my first thought was.....they went to the Loft!!!! Absolutely; that's why I shop there because that is the one place I look good in the mirror.:rotfl::rotfl:

Talbots has those mirrors too!

Think I can get one of those mirrors to carry around with me so everyone can see how good I look? I had to open a bottle of wine at 3pm today I was that upset! Although I do think I will update my FB pic next time I'm there.:cool1:

Updating your FB pic in the mirror....now that's using the ole' noggin! I wonder if my family would go with me to the Loft for the Christmas photo!:rotfl:

Sneaking the hubby in may be the hard part! :lmao: It's funny - I made a comment to the sales lady that I thought the mirrors were 'enhanced' and she laughed and said no way. Silly me

It's the good old Loft mirror trick. Let me just say that I bought my outfit for DH's retirement from the Air Force that was FILMED AND RECORDED from the Loft. The outfit that looked really flattering and cute at the Loft made me look like a short, surly buffalo in the tape and on all of the pictures from the retirement ceremony. So thank you Loft for that forever record of me looking really terrible and thinking I looked (relatively) cute.

Don't trust the Loft mirrors, seriously folks!

I saw on a show like 20/20 or one of those that they "tilt" the mirrors in a way that makes you look more flattering.

Before I hung mine in my closet, I had it propped up against the wall and depending how I tilted it, man! did I look tall and lean! It was very flattering! If only the world saw me that way.

yep. Loft strikes again.

i always come home and re-try on whatever i've bought from there. my big bathroom mirror does not lie!

I say next time take a friend, have them snap pictures of you with a phone, those photos don't lie!! (well as long as your not doing the FB - face only , up high, weird angle pose lol)

Oh my gosh, just TODAY I happened to see the Seinfeld episode where Elaine complains that the "skinny mirrors" at Barney's are guilty of "false reflecting".

The mirrors are tilted slightly downward, so when you look in the mirror, it's as if you're looking at yourself from above, which is a more flattering angle. It makes you look taller and thinner.

Some stores aren't so smart, and they prop their mirrors up against the wall, so that it gives you a perspective from below, which isn't so flattering for most people. I've never understood why they do this.

I was in a banana republic outlet a couple months ago with awful mirrors. I looked so WIDE. I don't understand either why they'd use a mirror that looks so bad. Surely there's a happy medium between too good to be true and awful!

When our local JCPenney went through its recent remodeling, they actually DID put "funhouse" mirrors in the kids dressing rooms. It was so incredibly obnoxious, because there were no REAL mirrors! My daughters were trying on dresses for a wedding, and couldn't see how they looked! :confused3

This is what I thought of when I read the title!

And I swear my gym puts in fat mirrors. I think I am looking OK, then I go to the gym and say "I gotta keep working out, I look horrible." I am convinced they do it to keep people coming to the gym!!!

This is funny, because last night I took my DD to Kohl's and when she was trying on clothes I kept thinking the mirror looked odd.
I thought it must just be me, so I didn't point it out to my husband.
