Do schools usually have spring breaksweek before and after Easter?

Trying to avoid crowds. Do the grade schools usually have spring breaks the week before ,and the week after Easter? Thinking of going the week following that last week. Because Easter is different every year I didn't know if this is usually the case of determining spring break for youngsters. I know college kids have all different ones. Thanks, will be anxious to hear how the following week was for spring break.

This year, in our town, public school had off the week BEFORE Easter because of Passover. The Catholic school had off the week AFTER, as always. In many surrounding towns, public schools were closed the week after. If you can avoid it, do, it's VERY crowded.

If you are thinking of going the weekend AFTER Easter, for a week, that would be a great week. We did that one year and it was nice - not that crowded.

The schools in Ma for the most part start with Patriots Day. It isn't always the week after Easter tho. Next year it will be. THis year it is on the 19th.

If you want to avoid crowds, the weeks before and after Easter are not the time to do it.

Here in the DC area, most schools have off the week preceding Easter and the Monday after.

Here in Texas, our Spring Breaks are usually the second-third week of March. With Easter being in late March next year, they are combing the holidays for the first time - we will be out the week before Easter and then Easter Monday. Yuck! Anyway, where there has usually been a"Spring Break" crowd and an "Easter" crowd, you may be looking at other southern states doing the same thing next year. I had planned to do Spring Break next year but have bumped it to the first week of June because I think that will be a little better crowd-wise. Good Luck - it will be fun anytime, right??

In MA, it is always the 3rd week in April, going with Patriots day, not Easter. I think next year that Easter is very early, at the end of March, so MA vacation will be well after Easter.
