Do room only reservations have a 45-day cancellation now?

We've not been to WDW for a few years but are going down soon to visit our son who's doing the College Program. I tried to book a room with the current offer on line -- got a good rate, but when I came to the page with credit card information it said 45-day cancellation. We're going much sooner than that, and this resort is actually my second choice so I want to be able to cancel. We want to stay at ASMu since my son is working there and will have to work at least one, possibly two, of the three days we're visiting. I was hoping to book something I could cancel if ASMu opened up. Of course, the special ends tomorrow, so I am going to book SOMETHING before it's over.

The other resort is ASMo, so it would still be convenient for DS. It's a preferred room, though, and I really hate to pay extra for an All Stars.

TIA.

This is the information I have:

When booking a "room only" reservation, you are subject to very few restrictions:
•You must pay one night's room rate as a deposit within 14 days of reserving your room. (Except when booking online at DisneyWorld.com, in which case full payment is required if reserving within 45 days of arrival.)
•Final payment of the remainder is due at check-in. (Except for online bookings; see above.)
•You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 5 days prior to check-in. (6 days for online bookings.)

From what I understand there is a 45 day cancellation for online bookings but a 6 day for phone ones. You should of course confirm this info, but that is what I remember discovering earlier this year.

Thanks. Obviously, I need to call for the reservation. In the old days, it was three days, then they changed it to five. Six is still way less than 45.

I just made room only reservations by phone yesterday and was told that the reservation could be canceled up to 5 days before without penalty . . . after that you would lose the deposit (one night's stay). The remainder of the charges is due upon check in. This is a much better deal than online, where you have penalties sooner and also, I believe, have to pay the total room charge in advance. The CM on the phone could not have been nicer, even as I went through many permutations of different resorts, room types, AAA discount, etc., etc.

There's been a lot of debate about this issue, and I wish we'd get some feedback from someone who actually had to cancel. Most of the time I only use the online booking for last minute trips, so it doesn't matter. But in the past I've noticed that the terms and conditions say one thing and my email confirmation another. I've never been 100% sure which one Disney would enforce if I had to cancel.

I've cancelled a room-only online reservation a few times, no problem. And also, I just went on a trip in August and I payed the balance at check-in. It was so easy and I always choose to do the online booking.
