Do ride videos and photos make Photopass worth it?

We preordered Photopass for our 2012 trip, and I liked the service. However, I was planning to skip the preorder for our May trip and just buy a couple of family pictures when we get home. Now I see that you can get some photos and a couple of videos from rides if you buy the package. Are they enough to make it worth $149?

I think so.

Each ride photo costs $15. You can only get the videos if you buy memory maker. Plus you get pictures of your entire family throughout the park without having to ask someone else to take them for you.

We got PhotoPass as part of our AP last Oct., we'll be using it this Oct as well. We like having the ride photos but the pics taken of our party by photographers in the parks are what we view and share the most. That said, we wouldn't pay extra for the service.

I think so, but I also think it's worth it without the ride photos if you get a lot of pictures taken.

On one trip (2001, I think?) we bought Photopass and didn't think we really got the value out of it. At the time ride photos weren't included so we didn't really look at them, and I didn't think they'd be that special anyway.

Most recent trip, we did memory maker with extended family and the ride photos are by far a favorite! They turned out pretty darn clear, though there are times someone's face is turned the other way or blocked by another rider. It's really the kind of picture you can't duplicate in any other way and I like the borders you can add that put the name of the ride and date around it.

I'm pretty cheap and still don't know if I'd look at each picture and think "sure, I'll pay $15 for that" (multiplied if the whole Fam isn't in same shot) but we rode every ride that has photos, met some characters, posed at least once in each park for pictures in front of icons and really treasure all those photos. After the trip when I just have a fading sunburn and a new Mickey t-shirt, the MM felt like a very worthwhile spend to me!

So for me, it wasn't. We liked looking at the ride photos... But we didn't do anything with them. I put a couple pictures in a photo book and rarely looked again.

I love the 7DMT videos (we went once during the day and once at night) and all of the magic shots. Being able to download every pic was well worth it for me (and now Memory Maker is $20 cheaper than when I got it).

It's worth it to us, but we enjoy looking at pictures to relive memories. We got our money's worth from ride photos, the throughout the park photos puts it over (which they'll take for you for free with your camera). It's nice having the magic shots and being able to add things to the photos.

As someone else said, it may be cheaper to just buy a few ride photos, but I'm more inclined to pay $150 and get a bunch of them, than pay for each individual. There were 5 of us and we probably had about 25 ride photos.

Spending $149 on Memory Maker is a tough choice to be sure. We spent it on our recent trip and we don't regret it. There are lots of photographers all over the parks. In fact, it got to the point with our teen boys where they were "not again" every time we stopped for another picture. But we got some great shots, a few special photos, and the photographers were very personable and patient. As for the ride photos and videos......way cool!!! It's a lot of money....but so is the rest of WDW.

I will say however, I think it is priced at the absolute top end of my budget so with a price increase......I'd just be taking photos with my own camera and forget about purchasing ride photos.

I think it's worth it for my family. The majority of pictures around our house are from photopass. We have a ton of great family pictures from the parks and just the ride photos and dining photos that we got would have added up to more than the cost of the package, so everything else was "free"

For us...absolutely

We just went in late Feb/Early March - and got PhotoPass... we have an amazing assortment of photos from our trip, including ride photos. (One of our ride photos went viral!) I think it was absolutely worth it, especially because we stayed a week. Downloading them on my phone was easy, and even easier when we got home. I got them all on my home PC in a matter of minutes.

Not worth it in my opinion. From my experience, you only see a few ride photos that are worth saving. So I'll buy those individually later and save $100. I know I'll miss out on the Magic Shot photos, and the 7DMT video, but those aren't worth a $100 to me.

Always surprised to read some don't see the value in purchasing the memory maker package. It's so convenient, everyone's in the pics, they are high quality, and so many to choose from. Worth it without the magic shots and ride photos.
