Do resorts discount for solos?

I doubt it, but I figured you all would now. Every rate I see is for Double Occupancy - are there discounts if there's just one in a room?

Nope no discounts for solos. The room rate is the room rate. However they do charge extra for a 3rd or 4th adult in the room. Oh and they won't make you buy 2 sets of park tickets or pay for the dining plan twice.

Also, alot of times when there's a general room discount, it can be better than something like free dining for solos.....while free dining only saves $37/day off a package for a solo, a room discount on a deluxe resort might be upto $75/day-ish.

Iwas wondering the same thing. I figured the room rate would be the room rate with no discount for 1 but that is the only thing you have to pay more for. Anyone have trouble getting ADRs for Solos??

Unlike most places, Disney will always quote room rate as per room.

When they are quoting a package rate, that is per person, but a package will include the room and tickets and usually meals.

To get the single rate for a package take the following steps:
1. Double the per-person rate.
2. Subtract out the room and tax amount.
3. Divide the result by two, this gives you the per-person charge for the tikets (and meals).
4. Add back the room and tax amount. Now you have the single person cost for a package.

hey back in the 80's when I first went solo - I think there was a surcharge for a single in a room.

when I complainted Disney say it was losing money with only one person. They needed 2 people- staying at the resorts, going to the parks and eating at their restuarants. They (thank goodness) reconsider and now only charge singles the price of the room.

be happy with what you have.

if you want a cheaper choice - then considering renting a DVC studio from a DVC member.
OKW and AKV are the less expensive. BWV standard view only, too.
then SSR.
VWL, BCV, pref BWV - are the same price.

don't stay fri or sat - too expensive. you will love it - promise!
