We made a reservation for some friends who are renting points from us. Do they also get free internet?

They are staying at Old Key West for 4 nights and Kidani for 3 nights on our points.

Technically no but sometimes they are not billed. Sometimes even DVC members it showes up at check out and you need your blue member card to have it removed.

Officially, no. If they compensated you for the reservation, you are supposed to let MS know that and they would code the reservation as non-members. Even if the reservation was coded as a member staying in the room, internet charges may still be applied to the room charge when they shouldn't be. In this case you would need to go to the front desk with your member id card to get the charges removed. A renter would not have a member id card to show.

I don't think you can say "officially no." The DVC rules are ambiguous as to which benefits are transferable to guests and which are not. It has been widely reported that there is no consistency from guest to guest or resort to resort. Some guests get it free, others do not. The best answer is "see what you see." It may be on your bill, it may not.

Here's the official rule regarding benefits and guests.

Making Reservations for Non-Club Members

1) Club Members may use their Home Resort Vacation Points to reserve Vacation Homes that will be occupied by non-Club Members.
2) When a Club Member uses his or her Home Resort Vacation Points to reserve Vacation Homes on behalf of a non-Club Member, and the Club Member does not charge any rental or other fees to the non-Club Member for the reservation, the non-Club Member is eligible for all or some of the Club Member privileges and benefits that a Club Member would normally receive during his or her stay in the reserved Vacation Home. If the non-Club Member is renting, it is the responsibility of the Member to notify Member Services when making the reservation. Member privileges and benefits cannot be extended to non-Club Members who rent Vacation Homes from Club Members.

As you can see, it doesn't give any definite answer, and gives lots of wiggle room for Disney to basically do whatever they do. "...all or some..." is the key phrase. Is free internet included? Individual mileage may vary. I've never seen any further official amplification on this policy, except for the very specific guidelines on who can get the DVC annual pass discount. If anyone has a DVC document that shows which benefits apply to guests and which do not, can you please post.

You can also check this thread for further (spirited) discussion.

Based on Dave's quote, if your friend's compensated you for the reservation, they get no DVC perks/benefits. If they are staying with you or you gifted them the reservation, they may get some. But anything that needs the blue member card would not be allowed.

In your case, they compensated you for the reservation, which you must notify DVC that you rented the reservation. They should get nothing free from DVC. That includes no pool hopping.

From what I have seen if the room card handed to you says DVC on it then they have you checked as a DVC member...... so if your friends see that then the answer is probably going to be Yes.

Normally the non-owner would get the free internet, but that's because the owner made the reservation. However, if there's a problem and it shows up on the bill, then the person would have to go to the front desk and show their membership card--then it would be a problem. We were actually at OKW this January and while sorting out the problems with a segmented DDP plan....yea, it was a mess, we were standing behind a couple who was charged for their internet and were trying to get it off their bill. They were also charged for housekeeping too! (which they told us they didn't even get). So it does happen.

I have had the cost of internet show up on my bill in the past. I had to show my blue member card to get it removed.
