Do PVB Studios need a 3rd view category?

I'm prepping my room requests for an upcoming PVB stay. My experience at the resort is mostly as a visitor for dining reservations, so I wasn't super familiar with the layout of the buildings, particularly on the DVC side.

Poly Studios are very clean:

Standard View
Pago Pago facing South
Pago Pago facing North
Tokelau facing East
Tokelau facing West
Morea facing South

Lake View
Morea facing North

All of that makes sense on paper, until you pull up a map and realize that Pago Pago facing South SUCKS. Those rooms stare directly into the parking lot, and are in no way comparable to the other Standard View rooms, which face gardens (Pago Pago N, Tokelau E, Morea S) or pool (Tokelau W). Does anyone else feel like they should rebalance the points chart to be three categories: Lake, Garden/Pool, and Standard?

The south side of Pago Pago is such a shame because it's my favorite building. But requesting it is really playing with fire...

The POS for Poly actually declared the rooms based on views so not sure if that can happen without it being considered a material change. But maybe take one of the SV buildings and make it SV preferred?

Not all resorts did that…BLT just says studios…so they had leeway in adjusting rooms when they moved TPV to floor 5 and higher and converted 10 rooms down to SV on those lower floors.

I have not stayed there too much but had SV in Moorea snd Pago and both seemed equivalent.

Yeah the insides of the triangle all point toward the same courtyard, but the outside of the triangle is Lake, Pool, Parking Lot.

I'm thinking of booking one of five rooms as a Lake View in the hopes that it'll pull all of our standard view rooms into the Moorea building.

I thought theme park view at BLT started on the 5th floor but when we stayed there late last year we were put on the 4th floor and were told theme park views included the 4th floor. I talked to several CMs and they all insisted that was correct. While not quite the same as when we were on the 8th or 11th floor, it still had a great view for fireworks and we enjoyed our stay.

It was never actually announced but figured out by most it had to start 5th. But in recent years it seems that some 4th rooms at still TPV.

With the way the point charts have been changed in the past 3 years or so with moving dates, it’s very possible it was incorporated in with that.

I found out the last trip that BLT Lake View rooms that face the Castle, also give you a really great bonus view of the loading dock. :thumbsup2

(You can watch all the dirty laundry going out, and there's some nice dumpsters down there as well. Of course, you have to stand up and look down to get a good view of it. If you're sitting down you only see MK and part of the lake)

I'd actually like the Poly standard option for a few points cheaper overlooking the parking lot. Makes sense to me.

My very first DVC stay was ground level into the parking lot.

It seems to me that they could do as they did with BWV - split the Preferred booking category, with BW view being a request only, into G/P View and BW View booking categories but not change the points costs. At least then you'd know what you were getting. But of course, the G/P View at BWV is nicer than the Parking Lot view at Poly, although they could call it Monorail View!

Sounds like a good idea! As it was my families first stay at the Polynesian, I waited to check in at the front desk so I could specifically ask for ANY room not facing the parking lot. Thankfully, they were able to grant my request, and I ended up on the third floor of Moorea. The location was nice, but I might try out the lake view next time.

Yes, but let's call Pago Pago south a monorail view 🤣

I was assigned one of these rooms. When I realized it would be a parking lot view I talked to everyone to try to change the room... no other room available. I tried saying it would be our first stay, but they wanted to move us the following day to a different (better view) room. Since we were staying for 3 nights only, I gave up and accepted the worst room possible... I walked to the room defeated and unhappy for our first stay at the Poly, feeling it was rather unmagical... you know what? My daughter loved the monorail view! 🤣🤣🤣
She was so happy because she had fallen in love with the monorails during our previous stay at BLT and walking from the MK to BLT. We ended up enjoying so much our stay and the view ended up not being an issue for us.
I'm actually considering adding Poly points in the future. We fell in love with the resort.

You see this, @CaptainAmerica? We can make this view a monorail view and RAISE the number of points required!

This view in that parking lot should not be discounted. I remember two years ago they set up this nice bench so you could take it in:

This was me enjoying the scenery on a beautiful, humid 94 degree day in September 2020. We rode the monorail over there again this last trip so we could sit on the bench. But alas, they must have removed it. Probably too many people wanting to sit there.

Just stayed at BLT this week with a so-called "Lake View" (12th Floor). We had the inside pool facing part of the tower - When looking straight out the window, the view was essentially looking at the other side at the mirroring tower and rooms - with a sliver of the lake off to the far right. Balcony was such that the wall for the door blocked the view of the Lake altogether. Very disappointed

We always request “Tokelau connecting rooms NW facing 2nd floor” … we are so specific the last 2 years we ended up in the exact same room! Lol.
