Do people really want to stay at the Poly water bungalows?

I'm curious how the bungalows turn out.
I stayed in an overwater bungalow in the Maldives once and it was an amazing experience, but, of course, also due to the unspoiled waters, colorful fish etc.

I don't understand why Disney is building those water bungalows at the Poly? The water in that lake is nasty! There are reasons why Disney won't let you swim in it. Anyone else feel this way?
u do t need to swim to them to get into ur room. U ever walk to a boat in Disney to get on it? I think it's going to be kinda cool.

:rotfl2: The bungalows aren't IN the water, and neither will you be if you stay in one. They are built OVER the water. No one is going to be allowed to swim there.

I understand the concept of these. They are just the Disney version of similar bungalow resorts common all over the south Pacific. They fit perfectly into the theme of the Poly. But for the price, I will choose the real thing in the real Polynesia, where I CAN dive into the water from my deck.

I know they are not in the water :rotfl: I was just saying that because the OP is thinking the water is going to be to nasty. I have been to Poly and hung out near the beach for the marshmellow roast. The water is not something I would go in, although there were small kids wading in it :( Actually if I stay there again I would stay in a bungalow if I could afford it. I bet it will be a great view of the fireworks.

Will there be a land building dedicated to DVC, along with the over-the-water bungalows? Or just the bungalows?

I think they are converting a couple of longhouses to DVC villas. Not sure which ones.

For the amount of money it will cost to stay in one of these you could spend less and travel to the real French Polynesia. Although a great concept and a fitting addition, this has ruined the view of a lot of other rooms at the Poly.

After seeing this video, I would not stay there during the construction:http://www.islands.com/articles/video-overwater-bungalow-lovers-now-have-more-love?src=SOC&dom=fb

Perhaps they will use netting in the water to keep out unwanted creatures. They did that at Le Meridien in Bora Bora. We had a deep overwater bungalow and when you went into to water you could see the nets running down to the ocean floor. Thats more for sharks, which I might choose over alligators and water snakes ;)

I saw them in person for the first time last week. My first thought was how the views from some of the other guest buildings are now totally ruined. I think it's a cool idea but I'm kind of against them just on principle, really.

I would not stay there because I absolutely do not like the Poly in general. Creepy resort.

Liberator...I know you posted this a long, long time ago and may not be around to clarify your statement but I'm intrigued...what do you find "creepy" about the Polynesian?

Does anyone else find the Poly "creepy"? If so, why?

Actually, I've never heard *any* of the WDW resorts being described as "creepy". It doesn't upset me at all that Liberator feels that way, I would just LOVE to hear from him or anyone else that finds the Poly to be creepy.

I am certainly in the minority but I've never been interested in staying at poly. I've been to Hawaii and bora bora so staying at poly at disney world is not something I've thought was a wow factor for me personally.
As far as water bungalows on that lake ... Not for me. I'm sure they will be booked solid and loved though : ) And eeeww on that snake in the curtains yikes!!!

I'm excited for them!! :yay: I cannot wait to be able to stay in one!
