I have been a long time eBay buyer (for everything from DVDs to pins) but just started selling a few weeks ago (just stuff around the house that I wanted rid of) and made about $500 by the second week. It's really addictive - every time I open a drawer or a closet I'm like, "Hmmm...I wonder how much this would go for on eBay" LOL.
I recently got a PayPal debit card, which is great - as soon as my auctions are over I can either get the cash out of the ATM or use it as a Mastercard.
I've about 1/2 paid for my next WDW trip next month, and hope to have it fully paid by eBay so I can leave the funds I originally set aside for it into savings.
eBay takes their cut, and so does PayPal, but it's still more money than I would have had to begin with. I gave up on yard sales long ago - I always seem to get stuck with those little old ladies who won't pay more than a quarter for anything and it's just too much work.
eBay can be work - especially the shipping - but I just set up a little box with everything I need (flat-rate envelopes and boxes from the post office - I only send priority mail because it's just easier because they give you all the stuff, bubble wrap, packing tape, markers, etc.). When I make a sale, I print out the person's address on plain paper, use clear packing tape to affix it to the outside of the package, seal, and it's off to the post office. Often times I even use the online postage at eBay/PayPal so all I have to do is drop them off.
eBay is sooooo addicting, especially once you can get some cash rolling in.
