Do people "get into" pirate day?

We never bother. Not only am I not really into dressing up in costumes, but I have no space in my suitcase. I don't even wear the bandana (they're way too small IMO). But lots of people go all out and even more are in between. I do enjoy seeing all of the dressed up people though and no one seems to feel out of place regardless of how much or little they participate in the dressing up. Do what feels right to you.

Wasn't prepared for my first DCL cruise... I would say at least 75-80% did dress up. Disney provided bandanas to all guests that night. I was wearing it as headband or wristlet during dinner lol. Though for my next cruise, I'm having Palo dinner during Pirate Night. I just don't have enough room to pack for another costume for my Hawaii cruise...

When I was on the Wonder I bought a pirate hat at the gift shop and then wore the bandana. Just regular clothes. I didn't feel out of place. Some go all out, some are minimalistic and some do nothing at all.

Our two "kids" and their kids, our gkids, love to dress up with us for Pirates' Night. I included a parrot with my outfit a while ago, complete with eye patch, wooden leg, ear ring (hard to find that ear) and a tattoo (bit of a chore on feathers). Our 6' 4" son got so much into his Jack Sparrow costume that he was stopped once by people in the hall to get a picture with him. On the way to dinner he paused by the corner area on the second floor of the lobby where the real Jack was to be and people started lining up for a photo.
However, as people have said earlier, you don't need to do anything or as much as you want...your choice. I saw one guy a while back that was so decked out and made up that he looked like he just stepped out of the set of another shooting of Pirates of the Caribbean...I did a double-take. Great fun!!

I guess we're party poopers. We never dress in costumes for pirate's night. I think the last time I dressed in a costume it was Halloween and I was in the 5th grade in the 60s. I was Popye!
