Just wondering if anyone has had any added pixie dust when staying in a partner hotel (specifically Magic Circus, Dream Castle or Kyriad)?

We're in the planning stages and may be staying on a birthday :goodvibes

no, I've had no pixie dust at the associated hotels.

I've got a feeling someone did get upgraded to a suite at the Explorers but it's the only time I remember reading about it at an offsite.

Thanks for your replies, DLPdaft and Ware Bears

I had a feeling I'd only read about pixie dust at Disney hotels! Bit of a shame but never mind, the magic is mainly at the park! :)

I'm a total newbie so please don't laugh but what is pixie dust?

Its little surprise treats DLP might (emphasis on the might ~ absolutely no guarantees) give you if you are staying onsite and let them know in advance of any special birthday or celebration you will be having during your trip.
things like room upgrade or VIP breakfast pass, or tea basket or cuddly toy/choc coins etc left for you in your room in arrival, that kind of thing.
whether you get any of this pixie dust is entirely down to DLP staff discretion.

We had pixiedust in the form of a personalised welcome letter from the hotel Manager, chocolate coins and bottles of water in our room at the Santa Fe last month.

We had that too on all of our last couple of trips, Santa Fe, Cheyenne at New York, I thought it was probably standard practice.

We had never had it before. We did have a welcome letter when we stayed at Sequoia Lodge but that one just said 'Dear Guest' and was apologising in advance for any disturbance during the refurbishment.

You will hear the term 'pixie dust' quite a lot on these forums, so I just thought it might be worth explaining that it does have a broader meaning of any extra special or 'magical' experiences relating to Disney. Could be an extra special character greeting, a fastpass from a fellow guest, room upgrade at a hotel, sometimes even just a friendly greeting from a CM. It doesn't necessarily have to be because you're celebrating a special occasion, although it does increase the chances of it happening if you make it known that you are. Sometimes 'pixie dust' experiences are a big deal, but most of the time they are just little extra touches that can make your day.
