Do pairs cheat by using the single-rider lines?

Our Family uses single rider on TT and RNR. You're just filling what would be an empty seat. Sometimes we end up in the same car, sometimes not. Not cheating at all. If CMs call for any singles or pairs to come forward in line at Splash Mountain or Soarin', is that also cheating? It's about filling seats to capacity to make the lines move more quickly.

I agree it isn't cheating as long as you don't complain about being split up. DH and I used to use single rider all the time especially at EE and TT. Now that we have kids who are tall enough to ride, we don't use single rider because our kids aren't old enough to ride alone and I wouldn't be comfortable with that anyway.

Absolutely fine. If you're willing to be split up, it's helpful to have people in the SRL to fill in gaps.

it seems kinda cheaty to use the single rider line when you aren't actually a single rider.
ER, wha?

I never imagined anyone thought a willingness to sit in different cars = some kind of cheating.

Single riders lessen the wait for everyone. Waits are less for everyone when there are no empty seats. It is a matter of flow and efficiency.

single rider worked out great for us as it meant we rode things multiple times with minimal waits.

You're often next to each other (or near enough) in any case.

Now I personally have no problem with this but I do wonder if the OP would see it as cheating when you are in line for a ride that does not have single rider and a CM asks if there's a single rider or a couple of people to fill empty seats.
Those people actually get to cut in front of others that have been waiting their turn but if those seats would have stayed empty if would have made the line even longer for others.

How are you not a single rider if you end up riding by yourself? Just because you're touring the park as a pair or group doesn't meant you can't ride a ride alone. We've used it once for TT and were in separate cars, so even though we were a pair, we were both also single riders. I wish they offered it on more of the attractions.

You still wait in line together. It's just the few minutes of the ride itself where you're not going to be next to each other.

I don't understand how people would rather wait way longer (or even skip the ride) just to avoid not being next to each other for the few minutes of the ride!

Yes, I realize you still wait in the line together, been there. My point was I'd rather go to the standby line and experience the ride with my wife.

That's cool if you don't understand, but it's a matter of personal taste. I value spending time with her, which we get to do very little of in our day to day life. Experiencing rides with her next to me is very important (and my kids too of course, but this conversation is about a couple). That's more important to me than doing the ride separately just to save a few minutes. If the standby line is 30-40 minutes or more, we'll just skip the ride and do something else, so it's not like we'd wait an hour. There are no shortages of rides to chose from in WDW that don't have monster lines. Personal preference...I'd rather ride a "tier 2" with her next to me than a "tier 1" without her. Your mileage may vary.

when DH and I go we listen out for that at all the rides with bigger cars. we have skipped ahead often. Times when BTMRR or other rides have just two seats left in the back of a train and all the groups ahead of us are 3 or more people have shortened our waits alot.

Thanks...I just didn't see it from that perspective. Everyone's mind works differently, but after reading the more constructive responses, I now understand the concept.
Because the OP explains he now comprehends the concept of "single rider," closing because the title of this thread is misleading/incorrect.
