We've never done online check in as we like to request a specific section of our resort (we also fax it in a day before). This year, our plane lands at 8:50PM and we'd like to go to Disney Springs Guest Services to get AP activated, buy TIW, etc, plus grab a bite at Dluxe Burger or Polite Pig. Any reason other than room request to avoid online check in? We are also hesitant about leaving all the luggage in the car (too much to stuff all in the trunk) in the DS garage. Will we have a timing issue if we go to the resort before DS? We'll need to pick up the luggage and get our rental car before heading onsite to AS Music. Can we take food to go from these places?

That can be done whether you do Online Check In or not.

There's zero reason to avoid it.

Maybe. Depends on if you're flight is on time.

Yup.

The reason you do online check in is to setup charging privileges with the Magic Band and to be able to get the room ready text. Or at least reduce the time you have to wait at the desk. Just don't make any requests in the online check in. And was said, faxing in the day before check in is too late.

Not many WDW restaurants do take out.

In your case I think online check in would be a better idea than waiting. If you get the room number text, you will know in advance whether that room is acceptable or if you need to go to the resort to request a change. I have only requested a change one time, but I didn’t have any problem switching (it was not during peak season, so they weren’t fully booked -that makes a difference). If the room you get is good, you can relax at DS.

I would not be concerned about having luggage in the car so long as everything is out of sight. If you are going to need anything out of the car where the luggage is, get it out before you get to DS so no one sees you have stuff in the car.

There was one time I did online check in, and when I arrived, the computers were down resort wide. Anyone who hadn’t done online check in had to go to the front desk the next day to put a cc on file. I did not have to do that since I put a card on file with online check in.

I am trying to complete on-line check-in for the second of my split stay and it keeps crashing at the final step on both a web browser and the App...any suggestions?

I would wait and try again in a few days. The Disney website often gets glitchy. :)

This has been happening for at least two weeks now. My friend has been trying since about 8/6 and had this issue. I became eligible on Monday and have been trying as well, but same issue. No luck on the app either. Can't believe its not been fixed yet!
