Do not want to get wet on Splash Mountain

Hey y’all. My mom and I are going to MK tomorrow. Now I love Splash Mountain but haven’t been able to ride it in years because my family never wants to get wet. My mom is open to going on it if she won’t get *super wet*. I know it’s inevitable that she’ll get wet but is there certain seats she won’t get as wet on like in the back? TIA

I don't buy all the previous posters telling you what seat to sit in. There isn't one. It is a crapshoot IMO. It might not be much or it might be a soaking, but it will happen. Wear a poncho, and either flip flops or keep your feet elevated. I've gotten soaked and have come off that ride almost dry sitting in the same seat.

The problem is THE HAIR. When you have fine hair that takes layers of products and a hairdryer and effort to style, it’s devastating to get it soaked, as it will look like crap the rest of the day.

Disposable shower cap? Easily portable, fits in a pocket, keeps the hair from getting wet, then either carry it around for a bit till it dries out and stick it back in a pocket, or dispose of it.

We have ridden many times in all 3 rows.
There seems to be nothing consistant as to who will get wet.
Agree with making sure the poncho is underneath you as the seat almost always has plenty of water on it.
We have been able to put the hood up quickly if needed, but leave it down most of the time.
The ride is so much fun and so well themed that its worth the risk of getting soaked.

This is my favorite way to not be wet on Splash or any water ride. Splash is one of my all time favorite rides, but I hate walking around in wet clothes.

Buy two cheap disposable ponchos. Put one on like your wearing shorts and tie it around your waste. Put one on as normal.

This way your butt does not get wet or anything else.

I look ridiculous of course, but I am 100% covered and can enjoy the ride.

Last row, left side. Many have already said it but it works b/c DW takes that spot every time for that reason (I go front row, then duck to get the people in row 2 behind me). Cannons don't hit you and you'll come out with maybe a few spritzes, not much more.

I must be incredibly unlucky because even at the front I never get all that wet. Then again I'm the type of person that WANTS to get drenched on a water ride because that's what they're made for

keep in mind that strategies such as a certain seat are unreliable as a lot depends on the weight distribution of the boat. Ponchoes are a good way to protect yourself and are usually pretty reliable. However, In the immortal words of the WOPR, "the only way to win, is not to play".

Yes, there are 4 rows, as I always try to sit in row 4 (if possible). Maybe he meant "Back" as in seat 7 and 8.

So easy answer to not getting wet is to not ride, that said:

We have ridden many many times over the years and gotten wet/splashed in every single seat possible, so there is no magic seat to not get wet. It all depends on how much weight is in the front of the boat, how tall people are, do the sit up or duck etc. So essentially you can get wet anywhere on a given ride. If you have allot of weight up front that front end will dig in and get a large splash wave. If kids up front not so much but still happens.

Also you can get wet if the water cannon go off and you are under them, or if the boat stops next to the waterfall at the end and it splashes you or on some of the minor hills if the wash comes into the boat. So plenty of ways to get wet throughout the ride. It is just a matter of how much.

So best option if riding is wear a poncho. We have never gotten really soaked on this one like Kali River Rapids does.

Plus Disney Cast Members are not going to let you pick and choose you rows especially if they are busy. You get to stand in the line for the row they tell you. Sometimes you can switch or request another row like front, but mostly they don't have time for people jockeying around. They will also tell you that any seat in any row has a chance to get wet or splashed.

This is amazing. Seat #5 for me!! I HATE getting wet. But I do love Splash, once I finally was convinced by the family to go on it. So, if they turn off the cannons when it's cooler, do they also turn them off at night time, when you don't have as much of a chance of drying out? Just curious, as we will only be doing MK after dark on our next trip.

In my experience, they DO NOT turn off the water cannons at night. We got on Splash during the fireworks in August 2018 and I got the absolute wettest that I have ever been on that ride. I got soaked from the drop AND the water cannons AND the waterfall at the end. I was SO soaked that I left a puddle on the bus floor during the packed ride back to POP. I was miserable and the people in my immediate vicinity on the bus probably weren't too happy either. It will definitely go down as my most memorable ride on Splash Mtn. I've ridden other times and stayed mostly dry, so luck was just not with me that night.

Actually that whole trip I was prone to bad luck on water rides. My shorts got completely soaked from a freak splash on Frozen Ever After. Go figure.

I love Splash and despise the water cannon at the beginning of the ride. The splashes after the hills are no biggie but the water cannon is evil. Nothing fun about getting soaked IMO.

Who likes the water cannon?

I’ve gotten soaked only once or twice- but as was mentioned it really depends on the people in the boat vs where you sit. I’ve been in the middle, behind Pooh sized people, and gotten soaked through to the undies. Small folks, barely a splash.

Since these things are completely out of my control, I don’t ride if I absolutely do not want to get wet.
