Do not want to get wet on Splash Mountain

Hey y’all. My mom and I are going to MK tomorrow. Now I love Splash Mountain but haven’t been able to ride it in years because my family never wants to get wet. My mom is open to going on it if she won’t get *super wet*. I know it’s inevitable that she’ll get wet but is there certain seats she won’t get as wet on like in the back? TIA

I hate getting wet so I always wear a poncho and sit as far to the back as I can. I also tuck my feet up under the sides on the drops to avoid wet feet or pack a little pair of flip flops to wear just for the wet rides.
Edited to add the foot tucking is what I do at DLR where the seats are single file. WDW doesn’t work as well because the seats are side by side so I use the extra flip flops.

I might add that if you wear a poncho, make sure to put the hood on as soon as you get on the ride. I made that mistake in November. Thinking I would wait and put it on before the first hill, I ended up with soaked hair when a cannon shot at us right when we rounded the first turn.

Back row, left side is the driest spot usually. If it's cold/chilly, the canons will typically be off, reducing the wet factor. If that concerned about getting wet, use an emergency poncho. As for shoes, I have never gotten wet feet or socks on Splash. There is a little bit of a lip you can put your feet under to add a little protection. But for me, dozens and dozens of rides over many years and my feet have never felt wet due to a ride on Splash. Some may disagree with me but in my opinion Splash Mountain is designed to give you a fun splash, unlike Kali River Rapids which is designed to drench you from head to toe.

I must be unlucky (or lucky depending on your thoughts), because I've gotten quite wet when I ride it. The front I've been absolutely soaked, but the middle/back I've gotten pretty wet too. We go in the winter and we still dry pretty quickly, so its ok for us.

In Nov- rode front right, was wearing a poncho or I would have gotten completely soaked. DS was riding front left and he was a little bit wet not wearing a poncho. We rode it again and were not in the front and got a little bit wet (didn't need a poncho). But the people in the front row all got drenched!

Unfortunately, there's no spot that's a guarantee to be dry, as it will depend on the particular load in that ride. Different weight placements affect how the boat splashes down after the big drop. One load might have a small splash, and only get the first couple of rows, one might have a big splash, and get everyone. Same is true on Kali River Rapids. On one particular ride, my wife and I were at the front going backwards during the big drop, so we hit the water first. The way we hit the splash went over our heads, and hit the people in the back, with us barely getting a few drops. On another ride down the it, we were at the back. That splash rolled up and over the front lip, drenching the people in the front, with us at the back just getting some spray from the wake.

I've only been on it once, last summer. I prepped myself to get super wet, doubled ziplocked bag my wallet and phone. Only to come out dry as a bone. I've gotten wetter on Pirates than I did on splash

I've ridden it several times over our last two visits. I've always sat in the 3rd row and have never gotten super wet, just a minor splash. And these trips were in Dec on mild days.

I've only gotten soaked on the WDW once, and the DL one countless times. Assuming it's WDW, keep your head down and feet up on the drops. Usually any splash is purposefully put there (not the actual reaction of water splashing), so it's aimed towards your head.

If I don't want to get wet, I wear one of the emergency ponchos. It works well if you put on the hood and make sure it is tucked under your bottom.

I've never gotten much more than a "spritz" on Splash Mountain which the Florida sun didn't dry off within 30 minutes or so, but yeah, it IS a water ride, and water can splash unpredictably, so the best "insurance policy" would be poncho if you want to minimize getting wet. (and maybe put head down to avoid space splashage, and make sure poncho covers your butt (wet seats and all)

We have gotten way wetter from the waterfall and the water cannons after the drop than the drop itself. Have gotten pretty wet in all rows. The person on the right does get wetter, I think.

Many years ago, you never got very wet on Splash. You still do not get too wet from the actual drop. The waterfall and the water cannons after the drop have gotten us every time in recent years. In fact, I had to buy my 8 year old a completely new outfit last year. It was just easier than listening to the whining.
