Do not leave age restricted items in public places

Fb is filled with groups that promote this, including some dedicated to passing it on.

I guess I'm weird and not purposely wanting to be wasteful, but I would not pick up anything in the hall or laundry room, particularly not some of the half used stuff people post. Actually saw someone post their opened milk and PB. Gross.

I'd rather people coordinate alcohol pickups rather than just setting it out.
I was thinking the exact same thing. The thought of drinking some stranger's leftovers - even if they aren't opened - grosses me out.

I'm the same way -- I wouldn't ever pick up anyone's leftovers at Disney (except maybe some type of paper product), but I've always put our unopened leftovers in the laundry room when we leave if it's not something we will use or eat at home. I figure it's better than throwing them away because *someone* will probably take them. But I've gotten much better at being realistic about how much food we'll actually eat in our room and I don't usually have leftovers anymore. I'm a bit shocked at how many leftovers some people have when they leave (based on pictures on FB groups). Some of them leave behind more stuff than I take in the first place....and I'm bringing breakfast and room snacks for 5-6 people!

We usually just leave it for housekeeping to use. This being said is this something we should be doing??? Anyone know if housekeeping just throws it away? or do they like it to be left for them?

I would never leave alcohol unattended. Those that want to say, no big deal, well it could be and there is no reason to chance it. You would be liable if it ends up in a minor's hands. "In Florida, it is illegal for anyone to allow an underage individual access to alcohol - even a parent permitting their own child. A parent may face hefty fines or potential jail time if caught violating this law and can also be held responsible should the minor cause injury while under the influence of said alcohol." A non parent would be held to the same laws and penalties.

At the least, DVC will come down on the side of protecting their selves and stop the sharing at all. I think this is probably coming anyway. The hallways are beginning to look trashy.
Responsible thing to do is list it and tell them to message you to come get it.

I think you mean liable.
Libel - to publish/write something defamatory about a person (slander = oral defamation.)
As my torts professor said many years ago - free legal advice is worth what you pay for it.

We were "treated" to a six-pack of beer once at ASM. It was just left in the room fridge. DH was quite pleased :drinking1

We pull it from fridge (along with other unopened bottles of leftover water & soda) & leave on counter. No way can mousekeeping miss it.

Asked them ages ago if ok. Was told if the attendant didn’t want it, they would take to break room, where it wold be greatfully claimed

i’m sure we could be violating some obscure rule, haven’t been chastised yet. If we are, then will just toss whatever I suppose.

Aulani is huge for this,,,full groups with exchanges from food, toys, floats, even airfryers and such.
I can see why,,people pick up at the Costco and always have too much, cant take it with you from Hawaii.
We did participate in, but always had a meet up for any alcohol.

I realize families are different but how much free time do kids/teens really have at WDW, especially enough time to drink and then get the alcohol off their breath before close contact with parents?

Just so you are aware, any and all alcohol that the cast come across is disposed of immediately. Housekeeping cannot take it home like other items and if found by any cast in the vending areas or whatnot it gets dumped down the nearest sink.
So don't leave it thinking it will get used. Try to pass it along in a FB group or similar before you leave or just dump it yourself.

my kids would just walk past it but maybe there are packs of teens roaming the hallways in search of booze.

That very may well be the ‘official’ policy

Yeah typo thanks will edit that. That's what happens when on my phone. :)

I am in the group with the posters above about not eating/using someone's leftovers. Even unopened. Weirds me out. I'm much too cynical and pessimistic to accept that they are ok and not tampered with. Not very likely but not worth the risk. Anything we have leftover is usually partially opened so we just throw out. I don't think I've ever had brand new items left from my stay.
