I read something the other day about fake pizza delivery people dropping flyers at resorts. According to what I read, these people are less than magical. That’s a bit of a concern, too, with this new policy.
I hope the security people are able to identify themselves in a way no one else could.

Several years ago, 2000 I think, when we checked into CBR the CM told us that someone had been placing phony pizza delivery flyers on the cars and to just ignore them. Same thing a few years later when we stayed at POR. These were taped to our doors, but we were warned before we got there by friends the fake flyers were appearing again.

While the flyers are nothing new, it just reminds us all that we need to be careful of who we open the door for, both at Disney and at home.

I'd really like to know that too. I think if they barge in it will get ugly very quickly. Which is why I can't see that happening. Disney has to tread very carefully with this. As does the Hilton group.

• Guests overly concerned about privacy.
• Guests refusing room cleaning for extended period of time.
• Those taking photos and notes about the hotel.
• Switching rooms a number of times.
• Requesting specific rooms.
• Extended use of DND sign.
• Using cash for payment.
• Guest doesn’t leave the room for extended period.
• Guest leaves the room for extended period.

I have the feeling that the way they are going to do this, has been well thought out; and that there's a procedure the CM going into the rooms has to follow. In addition to that, there's probably a list of things they can and can't do. They also most likely have a list of things and behavior that would put the room, and people in it; under the suspicious category. In other words, things they may deem it necessary to get the local authorities involved with.

Uh oh, I think myself and many others here are in trouble if they use those guidelines. Let’s see, I’m guilty of 1,2,3,5, 7 and sometimes 9 if I want to sleep in or am sick.

They better staff up if they're going to investigate anyone meeting these criteria.

I cant remember the thread but it has already happened, someone reported having children in the tub while the husband went out, someone knocked on the door wife thinks its husband but cannot leave baby in tub alone, door opens and its a cast member who walks directly into the room and stands outside the bathroom.

Has anyone thought to ask Disney if they could request that these checks only be done during certain times? If you know you will be sleeping until 9, in bed by 10 or have the kids down for a nap between 2 and 4, they might be able to note that for housekeeping so these safety checks are done at different hours. We're generally out the door by 8 and come back in the evening so this likely won't affect us but I can see how it could be a problem for some families. If I had kids napping, I might also bring my own "shh... baby sleeping" sign and hang it on the door. No guarantee, but it might help.

As someone mentioned earlier, I'd get a kick out of the room checks if it was Goofy in a security uniform or Stormtroopers doing them.

Just throwing this out there...what about people who are females traveling alone? Or people who practice religions where the genders aren’t supposed to mix? People who have sexual abuse in their background? Are they going to make an effort to provide same gender inspectors?

Are these people doing the room checks going to have proper background checks? I’m a nurse and had to get fingerprinted in my state some years back. Maybe they should do this for them, since sometimes there are young teenagers who are in the room alone.

As a young looking female who is planning a solo trip this summer, and who has had an incident with someone that missed that day in kindergarten about keeping their hands to themselves, while in a far more public place than a hotel room, I've been giving a lot of thought to this whole situation. My knee jerk reaction was to start looking into the "good neighbor" hotels, but at this point, I'm moving forward with my original plans, with some additional strategies that I consider to be reasonable precautions. My strategy, given that in the summer I typically return to the room midday to avoid the heat of the day and the brunt of the thunderstorms, will be to request housekeeping prior to 1, and to make sure the door is deadbolted whenever I'm in it. Should someone enter my room while I am there, assuming I'm "decent", I will be stepping into the doorway immediately. I am quite concerned about this new policy from a personal safety standpoint, but the reality is, a lot of what is believed about this policy right now is assumptions. I'd like to hope that Disney, and all other hotel chains that appear to be implementing similar policies, will have defined procedures in place by the time my next solo trip rolls around in August. I do think, like so many of the security measures that have been implemented nationwide in the last 16 years, that this is security theater, but I'm also aware that Disney does a lot with security that we don't see or hear about, so I suspect that this is better thought out than any of us think it is right now.

From a security standpoint, it's better to stagger security checks in order to have the element of surprise. Say you're planning to do something deviant (such as the LV shooter), if you knew your room would be checked every day at 10am, you would be able to prepare for that ahead of time so that you don't get caught. If the occupant is caught unawares, then they have no time to hide whatever it is they are planning to use to conduct their atrocities.

Again, this is all speculation, but I foresee Disney giving us the "We'll make a note of it, but cannot promise that a CM won't visit your room during that time" response to any requests such as the above.

But everyone has their own personal feelings about their right to privacy and reasons for not wanting to be disturbed. It clearly hit a nerve with some, just as the dogs in Disney resorts thread did.

Mocking people who have high levels of concern is not cool.

Plus, some pages ago they claimed they were bowing out of the discussion..

..but they have done it after several days if you've left the DND sign up and management has been unable to contact you. Primarily to check to make sure you haven't died!.

Didn't they care before this if I had died?
