Do Not Disturb Gone! (BLT)

According to this, it looks like for Hilton, if they perform the daily maid service, that is considered sufficient under usual circumstances. But it looks like Disney is planning on additional inspections beyond the daily maid service.

What evidence do we have of this? Has it happened?

I wouldn't really mind if we could request a time. Although we'd like Mousekeeping, we rarely get it - we are out by 7, back from about 1 to 6 for a nap, and then out again until late. Mousekeeping seems to really like to visit our room around 2P. The "Disney nap" is, for my group, one of the most coveted parts of vacation. So if they insist on checking once a day, no biggie... but they need to be willing to work around guest schedules. I'm going to be beyond frustrated if our nap is interrupted by a knock every day.

But Hilton's policy is not the same as Disney's policy.

Have no issue with housekeeping coming each day, do have a problem with Disney sending men in my room at off hours, uninvited and walking in on guests. Hilton also involves training for many other employee observations throughout the resort that honestly would be a better indicator of a suspicious person than looking around a room ... unless they begin touching guests things.

Since everyone else is doing it :) - My thoughts on how it will work:

Housekeeping will go about their day as usual and will have a way to keep track of rooms they didn't clean (probably already do). Then the new security "steward" (I like that title) will most likely get a list of any rooms that couldn't be entered by housekeeping and then proceed to make a quick stop at those rooms.

My guess is that most of these rooms won't be entered or visited by the security steward. I think they will still only enter if there is a reason they feel they need to.

I was commenting on what is stated in the article that was linked in @AquamarineSteph's post.

The article states that Disney will require an employee to enter every room, everyday and removed the DND signs. Nothing about both housekeeping and another visit during the same day.

We need to hear verified visitor reports that they are indeed getting two visits a day. Right now people are just repeating other people's worries.

I still maintain that being able to schedule your room check, or being able to delay it if they come at an inconvenient moment, defeats the entire purpose of the room check if the main reason for these checks is in fact "security". If you know when they're coming to see if you have guns set up in your room, then you know not to have your guns set up during that time frame. If they come while you're setting up your guns and you ask them through the door to please come back later since now is inconvenient, and they say "Oh, sure thing, our apologies for interrupting you!" then guess what, you get to continue on with your spree as planned.

I don't follow Florida or US law.

What are the legalities of them searching through people bags and belongings?

I know that would never fly here in Canada.

Yes, it was reported earlier in this thread:

This is one of the comments on Inside the Magic's FB post from earlier this evening. From the sounds of this, it doesn't appear to be your average mousekeeper who is doing the room checks during their regular rounds. (Yes, I know this is just one anecdote that may or may not be the norm.)

Now it's multiple people they're sending in?

What hours wouldn't be considered "off"?

And would it be different/better if it was a woman doing the daily check?

While people are doing the but, but, but, if , if, if about all the worst case scenarios or unlikeliest of possibilities, I'm wondering if perhaps this new policy is in place to give Disney the OPTION of entering any room they feel there may be an issue with (even though it technically was an option before)? Maybe by making it public, they hope to thwart any would-be neer-do-wells. By letting the "bad folks" know that they could have their room checked at any time, it might cause them to find a different place to wreak havoc?

Or maybe they'll be dressed in riot gear, kicking down doors and tossing in stun grenades before sending in a horde of sex offenders with attack dogs to leer at naked people at 2am.

Who's to say?

Actually there have been at least two reports.

What would you consider "verified visitor reports?"

Do those reports both say housekeeping had also visited their rooms and then they got a second visit that day?

Verified - more than a one off? Consistent reports of it happening, instead of just one here or there.

No they are not. Unless something noticed by housekeeping caused concern.

At least that is how it was explained to the WDW housekeepers, front desk personnel, etc.

I was not aware of this, but am glad to hear it. Then new issues would likely arise only for guests declining housekeeping.

Finally someone thinking rationally not in panic mode. I really do not see the big deal about any of this. Disney is not going to be knocking down doors. There will be enough time in a 24 hour period for them to do this and not be a major inconvenience.

This really is no different than before other than now you actually know in advance. I have always considered while in a hotel room, that at any given time it could be accessed by an employee and put the latch on always, and locked bedroom doors and bathroom doors. I would never do otherwise.

Except when during that time period of DISNEY's choosing...you would like to bath your children, nap your child, have sex or just be plain LEFT ALONE. Without a security agent entering your private space ! Every day.

Well, since we don't usually do any of those activities while housekeeping is in the room, and their visit will suffice for the daily visit, I think we will be okay!
