We just returned from a quick 4 day trip to WDW. On Friday, we were excited to see that El Pirata y El Perico was open. So we trekked across the park from Tomorrowland, looking forward to a taco - yum! Imagine our disappointment when we saw the new menu - pork sandwich; cheeseburger; salad. Wha? Not a taco in sight. If you're looking for a taco, you won't find it here so don't bother making the trek. :sad2:

You can still get the taco salad next door at Pecos Bills but alas, it looks like the taco went vaminos.

I've read multiple reports that this is temporary while Pecos Bill is under going refurb.

Pecos Bill is not there - El Pirata is in the Pecos Bills building right now.

This change is only temporary, don't get scared. They are in the process of a refurb at Pecos Bill. Once that is complete the Tacos and taco salad should come back. Sorry you didn't get to eat the coveted tacos :)

I still think El Pirata is a myth. In 10 trips I've never seen it operating. ;)

When I was there in January, PB's was closed, and the meals you mentioned were being served in the old DIamond Horseshoe Review building.

Don't worry folks...as was said before..it is temporary while Pecos is in refurb...the only reason it was even OPEN during the slow season was because of the Pecos refurb.

Thread Hijack!! Your Schnauzer is so cute! I have one myself though he is more Black. I love them!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program.

We were fooled in January, poor DH was so excited to see it open and so sad when he saw the menu

I agree with you--I've never seen it operating either. Reminds me of the Noodle Station in Tomorrowland--never seen that operating either. :confused3

Last year I had the taco salad and it was so good.

Last month I was really tasting it again and went to get one and also noticed the menu. I talked to a CM and he told me it had in fact been taken off the menu and didn't think it was coming back.

The trick is to go during free dining, I think. The place will be a zoo and you'll regret even thinking about eating there, but it'll be open. At least that was our experience there! :headache: Come to think of it, El Pirata might be able to take sole credit for my love affair with the deluxe dining plan and its total lack of counter service meals! :rotfl:

WOAH! Hold up! When did PB go under refurb and how long? It's not listed on the DIS list!
