Do most people use points for the DVC member cruise?

How do you think most people pay for the member cruise? I'm wondering since I've heard that using points is not the best way to pay for a cruise eventhough we used our points in the past.

We just booked our second DVC member cruise on Saturday. I did notice on the threads related to booking the cruise there were quite a few people that were planning to use points. On the SSMC10 cruise we used our Disney Visa to pay for the cruise. For the SSMC11 that we just booked we used the rewards that we accumulated by using our Disney Visas.

We paid cash....We thought the required points for the same cabin were too expensive.

You do use more points to book cruises. For the member cruise we just booked, we did one perso points and one cash.

My sister-in-law goes not the cruise every year with her family and she rents some points out and pays for the cruise.

We went this year and used points. I booked 2011 with cash.

On Saturday, we booked one cabin with points and the other with cash. I know the value isn't as good using the points but at the same time...that's why we bought so many points in the first place!

We used points this time. I would have preferred not to, but we wanted to go and the no OOP option was the best option this year. We paid by CC for the 2009 Member Cruise.

We used points for the 2011 member cruise, it was just easy to do, no OOP, no hassles, no worries.

We're also using points for November 2010. OKW 4 nights, followed by WL 3 nights then 2 nights at Dolphin. (no availability for the lasst 2 nights)

Love using these points, these will be spectacular vacations.

Although we have not book a cruise yet, my feeling is if you are going to spend that much money on a cruise why not buy the points and get more than one vacation out of it.

Well, I'm on the W/L for the 2011 Member cruise and ideally I'd like to split the payment to use points for myself and have my friend pay cash. However, that is all going to depend on when the W/L comes through (if it comes through). If it comes through too soon, I'll just use all points and my friend can reimburse me later.
