Park at the designated theme park when visiting the parks or park at downtown Disney and get a bus to the park. Am I correct that parking is $25 and parking at DS is free?

Yes you are correct in the cost. We’ve always parked at the park. I don’t think it’d be worth it to park for free at Disney Springs. Park tickets are expensive and there are only so many hours and footsteps in a day.

There are no bus routes from Disney Springs to any of the theme parks. You might find a bus to a resort then another to a park, but that would probably take up way more than $25 worth of your time.

There is no direct bus from Disney Springs to the Parks.

You would need to take a bus to a hotel, then change to a bus to the park.

Also Disney Springs does not open until 10 am, buses would head to hotels after that and you would miss the golden HOURS at the beginning of day at park.

The price of parking is well worth getting to the parks early.

Parking at Disney Springs is intended for guests who are visiting Disney Springs. It is not intended for guests visiting the parks.

If people begin to abuse this offering they will start to charge for parking there too.

@newfiegirl, when you are not visiting Disney Springs you should pay to park at the parks just as everyone else does.
I doubt they would start charging for parking: that would result in fewer people actually going to visit DS which would hurt the revenue of many shops there. They’ve made it inconvenient enough to get to a park from DS so I doubt many are doing this anyway.

I would never waste my time driving to Disney Springs, hiking to the bus stop, waiting on a resort bus, getting off at that resort, and waiting on another bus to the park I actually want to visit. Time is money during a Disney trip, and that would be a huge waste of time.

There might be a few locals who don't have AP's that would take the two or so hours of transportation time in order to save $25, but I think that most people park at the designated park when visiting the parks.

And I think this is one of the reasons APs include theme park parking.

I'm local and I can pretty confidently say that if you're local and you don't have an AP, you probably don't go to the parks at all. And if you are local and go once a year or so without an AP, you're just going to pay the parking fee, go with your friend with an AP or your friend who is a cast member so you don't pay for parking. Disney makes it really inconvenient to use Springs as a way to park for free. Sure, you can do it. But locals and most people who know how inconvenient it is aren't going to bother.

I'm local and like you say, I don't go to the parks.

As a former long time WDW bus driver the number of people I took to a resort from DS in the morning in order to ultimately avoid the parking fee at the parks was tiny. As a local I went to WDW infrequently.

As other have said, parking at DS on a parks day isn’t worth it - wastes too much valuable park time when you’re paying hundreds of dollars per day for your family’s tickets.

Now, if you’ve got a non parks day, it’s a great place to start your resort hopping. Park for free at DS, and take a bus to get a Dole Whip at the Poly, or a boat to get a beignet at Port Orleans. Since all resorts have transportation back to DS, it’s a good base for exploring resorts.

Exactly, We do this when all we want to do is tour resorts, as most of the time you can not drive to resort unless you are either staying there or have an ADR.
