Do-it-yourself Mickey Head Nails

I plan on getting a pedicure and having them do that, But I will have to paint the girls nails. Now when to do it since I am working all 3 nights right before we leave. I am accually working 4 nights the week before off 1 night then work the next 3 nights and then we leave. :scared1: I need to pack 6 peoples things plus all the extra oh me oh my.

I noticed that some of the manicures people have pics of have the Mickey pointing "away" from you...the ears towards your hand, the head pointing out. Is there a specific reason? I'd like to do these but I'd put the Mickey going the other way. Especially on my toes...I want to look down and see Mickey!

Oh, and with the Sharpies...I volunteer at summer camp and led a nail painting group. My girls painted their nails, let them dry, then did designs with Sharpies. It looked really cute! They even convinced one of the guys to let them do racing stripes on his nails!

You can also get pain pin like things that have actual nail polish in them. But regular paint works just as well!:goodvibes

Anyone else have more photos? I just know my lady at the salon is going to think we're nuts!

Another idea, the way I do my girls nails. I use the end of a bobby pin and dip it in the nailpolish then touch it to get a circle. That is how I get the round dots to make Mickeys, flowers, and polkadots (red nails with white polkadots like Minnie's dres.)

This is just the way they did it in the salon. We had a very hard time getting them to understand what we wanted (they didn't speak English fluently) so I was just happy it looked like Mickey

I am sitting in the salon now getting a pedicure and was looking for pics to show the ladies because they couldn't understand! They thought i wanted a black Pikachu. Ha! They understood when I painted mickey head on a piece of paper for them. Too funny!!

I wish I had a photo- my daughter did her nails in yellow- tips red(like a french manicure) then white dots on the red part- added a little black bow using a tiny paintbrush- (That was my job) They came out super cute.

I tried to do mine- ended up in tears and went with blue sparkly instead at the nail salon a la little mermaid.

I will have to try a bobby pin. I used the bottom of a tootsie pop stick. I dipped it in white each time and it worked on DD. When I tried on myself it did not work. DD is 7 and showed everyone, expecially Mickey and Minnie :thumbsup2

I do my own nail art all the time. They look professional but I do them at home. :) Saves me a ton of money. LOL Anyway, I have dotting tools that I got from Amazon that I use for making flowers and Mickey heads and Minnie's polka dots. I'm better at doing my kids' nails then my own but the dotting tools are easy to use and come in different tip sizes. :)

I found a little polka dot kit at Meijer. It has three different color small bottles of polish and two different size metal dot-makers (thin metal sticks with balls on the end). They had them with many different colors of polish -- I bought a kit that had red, black and silver. But they also had greens, blues, pinks and a few others, I think. The whole thing was $5.99. Thought I'd try it! (but not until the weekend, because I have a job interview on Friday and it might be a little much for the interview). If it turns out well, I'll take pix and post them.

I have also read (but not tried) that if you use painters tape (the blue stuff) and punch out a Mickey Head with a small Mickey hole punch, then put the tape on your nail and paint over it. The painters tape is supposed to work because it's made to peel off easy.

This may be the way for me to go because I am not exactly the artistic type.

I was doing some peeking on ebay.

Lot 6 Pkg CHRISTMAS & Regular MICKEY MOUSE Nail Stickers Gr8 For Disney Trip!

Very cute nail stickers, and what seems to be a good price too.

I picked some up for my trip, and will use the Christmas ones this holiday season!

I did Mickey decals (like those water tattoos) on mine and my girls last year. They were fairly easy.....but hard to do on smaller fingers. You can find them online by doing a search for Disney nail decal
