When we were in Fla we came across a Do It Yourself Dog Wash in Castlebury. I thought it was a great idea. You just take your dog to a place similar to a do it yourself car wash. Wash him, dry him and no muss no fuss at home. I live in Mass and I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of something like this in this area.

I thought it was a really great idea especially for those who live in apartments or those who just do not want to spend 50 at the groomer.

That is a great idea! Low maintenance. Low service. Filling a need. Good potential income. Wow.

You could even have the option of letting people bring their own soap products or buy a *special* line of products you could have on site.

I could run a business like that! :)

(And I could still eat bon-bons while kicking back in my pink feathery high heels. All I'd have to do is call my employee to check if the money was coming in! hee hee. JK)

I think some Petco has something like this available. Check the phonebook for one near you, and give them a call!

We used to have a "doggie wash" almost right around the corner from my house! I was so excited by the idea! Especially for the winter time! I can bathe my dog outside in the warmer months, but when I have to do it in the bath tub in the winter, oh my gosh! It becomes a battle of wills! Then when it's all over, the bathroom becomes a flooded mess and the rest of the house gets wet as he shakes all over the place. He's a pretty big Lab and makes a pretty big mess!

Anyway, I went over to check the place out and it was kinda cool! It looked like a gym shower room or something, with little shower stahls and "grooming" rooms. :p It was pretty cool! But I never took my dog there. :( The wet doggie smell just upon opening the door of the place was incredible! :crazy2: It looked extremely clean, but it didn't smell clean with that wet doggie smell, so I never went back. I wonder if it's still there. I'll have to look. That was about 2 or 3 years ago. :)

They have one in NH...they MUST have them in MA.

Petco has this. you pay 10 bucks and they give you shampoo and conditioner. then you wash and dry and go---great in the winter.

We have that here in Maryland. I haven't done it, but my DH has and it's easy. We now have two dogs and I'm thankful that neither of them smell "doggy" very quickly, but they do needs baths now. I don't remember how much it costs, but more than the $10 that maps quoted for Petsmart. I don't think that our Petsmart has a do-it-yourself bath area.

There used to be one in Weymouth, MA on Route 18. I don't know if it still there since I haven't been by that way in years.

Great concept for those with huge dogs! I had never heard of it before!

Our Harley is so small that DH just gets in the shower with him, and I shampoo him while he holds him ;)

I did not even consider Petco I will have to call a couple of them. I think this is a great idea and I cannot understand why there are not more. Thanks.

I'm sure EsmeraldaX will be along shortly... Sheri do you know of any around here???

It was there as of around 2 years ago, but I don't know the name of it...sorry! Dh just said that there is one in Milford on Rt. 16 too, but again, I don't know the name of it! Sorry! If you call a pet store around you, they may be able to give you the name of some in your area! Good luck!

:) Hi all,

I actually don't know too much about them! But it sounds like a good idea. We actually just groom Monty at home, most of the time, as he is a little guy and fairly easy to bathe.

When he is being particularly difficult about having his nails trimmed, we take him up to Petsmart or run him by his vet. :)

I'm pretty sure they have these do it yourself washes at the Petco near me (Salem NH).

Also, that place in Weymouth is still there I think. I grew up in Weymouth and I visit my family there a few times a month. I'm pretty sure I know the place you're talking about...is it in a really bright colored house on RT18?

I'll see if I can find that one, I take 16 on my way home if I stop at the Target up there.. There's a Petsmart in Bellingham, but I don't know if they have that service. I usually just take my dog to the vet's/groomers, but for an emergency it would be nice to know there is one around.

We just had a pic in our local paper, one was just placed in a carwash about 10 miles from our house. It has a small stall in a separate area, the room is heated in winter with air in summer. They provide oatmeal based shampoo for the tender skin or a flea and tick shampoo. They have a blower to dry the dog. You get all this for 5.00 I think this is a geat deal and am going to try it out in the next few days. Paulette

We have one that just opened in Sturbridge! I have never been there because I have a little pug that can easily be washed in the kitchen sink. I think it is a wonderful idea for someone with a larger dog.
