I have a chance to go to DL for one day this Saturday. We can get a discounted 1 day ticket for $35 or a 2 day PHP for $99. What we were thinking about doing is buying 2 of the discounted tickets for a total of $70 and going back and forth to both parks.

Now, is spending $70 worth it and will we have enough time to see most of both parks (and remember a lot is closed right now). Only 2 adults who have been to DW many times (and are going back for 11 days in Dec) don't need to do all the kiddie rides and would probably never get back here again. Would you try this or just decide on one park? also DL is open 8-11 and DCA is open 10-8

what do you think?

thanks

Kathy

Tough choice...we're going for one day this weekend and have decided only to go to DL. While I think you COULD do all the major attractions, especially the ones they don't have at WDW, I think I would feel rushed to have to split my time between the two parks. Even though some of the rides are the "same," like Pirates, etc., they are actually different. I once spent an ENTIRE summer day at DL and didn't feel like it was enough time (and I go to DL almost every year, and WDW every 2-3 years).

If you do decide to do both parks, these are the things I would be sure to do:

DCA:
Aladdin Show
Soarin' Over California
Maliboomer
California Screamin'
Grizzly River Rapids
Main Street Electrical Parade (I'm assuming it's on that day)

DL:
Indiana Jones
Matterhorn
Pirates -- it is different than the one at WDW
Fantasmic!
(I know Space Mountain is closed right now, but if it happens to open up by then, I would definitely do that; same for the Haunted Mansion -- I am praying it opens early...it isn't scheduled to open until Oct. 3, but the Nightmare before Christmas theme in that ride is awesome!)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I'm sure others will fill in!

My SIL and I just did this on Monday. We were in San Diego on a business trip and decided to drive up to DL on Monday. We got there at 9:45 and had to leave at 3:30 to get back to San Diego to catch our flight home  . We had hopper passes and got alot done for the time we were there. We did.....

DCA

Soarin' over California
Grizzley River Rapids
California Screamin' (3 times!!!)
Who Wants to be a Millionaire
Mulholland Madness

DL

Indiana Jones
Honey I shrunk the Audience
Pirates of the Caribean

The line for the matterhorn was really long in the afternoon so we had to skip it. That was the only thing I wanted to do that we didnt get done! (besides all the rides that were closed) I basiclly went into it with the frame of mind that I wanted to see the things I wasnt going to see at DW in November. We didnt spend much time in DL because most of it we can see at DW and all the big rides are closed. I really like DCA and want to take my kids there soon! If I had only one day I would probably only do DCA. Whatever you choose, Im sure you will have a great time!

Kathy,
I like your plan of going into both parks. With only 2 adults to worry about, you can cover a lot more ground than if you had kids with you. Just make a plan of all the "must sees" for each park, and go in with a plan. If you use the Fastpass system, you won't have a problem. If you aren't planning on coming back for awhile, I wouldn't miss out on this opportunity. Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom are two very different parks, and our family actually prefers Disneyland. I agree with the other posters on their "must sees". I hope you have a great trip!
A very cool site to check out is www.mousesavers.com
You might find some helpful tips concerning the restaurants.

I would go for it, both parks! I think you would be sorry if you didn't do both, especially with the extended hours. DL is much different than Magic Kingdom. I would leave the WDW imports to last, but not the other way around. In other words, you would leave the ITTBAB till last, but definitely do POTCand HM (if it is open, which I doubt). We also go to WDW every year, but whenever I am in or around Orange Co. CA, I have to go to the entire DLR. Have fun!Sus:)

Hi there - I just wanted to post back and tell you - that no, you cant do it all in one day - but you can do a lot!

We were in the park by 8:15 am and spent the first 6 hours in DL then went over to CA for about the next 6-7 then back to MK for Fantasmic and to finish up and left the parks at 11:30!.

We didn't see everything (didnt do alot of the kiddie rides in Fantasyland) but we did pretty much everything else we wanted to. Granted a lot was closed splash, space, thunder, HM and POC but we felt we accomplished a lot. CA was a lot of fun, very surprised at how cool California Screaming and did this 2xs!

Didn't get the time to really stop and smell the roses (but I will be doing that in DW in Dec) but we had a ball

thanks for the original feedback
