I am really torn but everyone here is always so helpful. DH and I both turn 50 next year and I think cruising would be a great way to celebrate. We have been on the Magic 3 times, Eastern, but I am ready for a little change. I have read other posts and how they surprise their family members and I think that it would be relly fun. His birthday is 09/23 (which is a Thursday next year) - I could give him the documents for his birthday and we could leave the next day. Would any of you be angry, am I missing something obvious??? I will need to clear all of this with his office but I would be OHHHHH so grateful if he did that for me.

Personally speaking, that would be the GREATEST 50th Birthday Gift I could receive if my DW did that for me!!! Go for it Girl!!!

Why don't you be on the cruise for his b'day? You could leave the week before and be sailing on his b'day. Last year I was walking off the ship on my b'day, oh how I wish I could have stayed on another week.
Good luck with the plans.

well it wont be a surprise but I will be on the Magic ON my actual birthday - Nov 13th - sea day -
waking up spending time on our verandah, sending DS to the Lab for some couple time, having brunch in Palos, sun & fun at the pool, tropical drinks, celebrating again at dinner, watching the sunset, and those night skies - ohhh take me there now

love it if my DW would surprise me with a cruise. It's sounds like a sure thing and a great way to celebrate both your b-days. Good luck, I hope you decide to do this and can pull off the surprise.

Thank you all for your support - and nice to know the gentlemen on the board approve! I do wish we could be cruising ON his birthday but if we go on the Magic (I have heard there are other cruise lines but......) there seems to be no sailing the week prior - or at least according to the reservation agent I spoke with yesterday. Since we have done the Eastern 3 times and never the Western I really prefer to go the week after.

I will keep you all posted and thanks again for your responses.

I gave DH a 4-night Carnival Fantasy cruise (prior to our Disney Magic cruise) as a Christmas present, but he - like me - enjoys the anticipation of the cruise so I told him about it way early so he could be looking forward to it as I was.

If he was going to surprise me with a cruise, I would want to know about it right when he booked it so I could start looking forward to it, as - to us - half the fun of the trip is the anticipation of it. :D

A cruise is the best possible thing I could think of!!!
Hubby and I pretty much just get each other token gifts for our brithdays and holidays now, as our cruises are like "presents" throughout the year.

No, my DW doesn't do the boards, she's not into computers very much at all.

I did this for my hubbys 40 th birthday, I made up a card, bought him a suit and put the tickets in the pocket, he was very surprised. We left 2 weeks later, which happened to be our anniversary. He is going to be 50 in may so I guess I will have for force myself to do it again;) We won't go untill October and the kids will go with us, no anniversary this time, but next year is our 30th so maybe he will do the same for me?

Our 30th Wedding Anniversary in coming up in October '05, this gives me an idea to surprise my DW with, thanks for the idea!!!

Hubby promised me the Walt Suite for our 10-year anniversary (which is 8 years away!!!!

Our 25th is next year too - wouldn't be a hoot if he got me a cruise for our anniversary and I did his birthday! Wonders never cease but I doubt it. I toyed with doing a cruise with the kids for our anniversary since they would be out of school and dates would not be an issue but I decided that it would be more fun alone ;) ;)

I told DH that I should just book a cruise and then tell him about it when I can't cancel.....should have seen the look I got
Who knows, I just may do it sometime. :bounce:
