Do I really need a ray shield?

I have a Mac rally twin for our 4yo & 18 mth. We are using it for our 11 day August trip to WDW. Do you think I should invest in the ray shield to add a little extra shade from the sun? Also is it possible to put a single ray shield on a twin stroller? I don't think my 4yo will like having the shield hang over his head. Thanks for any advice.

I would personally skip it. To me it seems that you are in and out of the stroller in buildings for rides and eating half the time, that the other half the kids are okay. If setting somewhere, there is usually a bit of shade, enough for the stroller atleast.

No experience with double strollers though.

The way the shade connects to the side of the stroller I wouldn't think that you could use a single one on a double sbs stroller. You could take your stroller to your local BRU and try one out though. :)

Another thought I had was why not a stroller umbrella instead?

hth!

I would, simply because the sun in August in FL is BRUTAL. I remember going to FSU football games in Tallahassee in August, and getting burned to a crisp.

OT, but do you like your double stroller?

If you think that your 18 month old is going to nap in the stroller, I would definitely get one. We had one on our trip with DD when she was 18 months old and it really helped for the stroller naps.

DS hates ours and cries when I put it on the stroller and tries to pull it off. Wish I would have never spent the money on it.

I bought one recently for our trip in Sept. My kiddos (14 months and almost 3 at trip time) are both blond, blue-eyed and fair, so I am pretty paranoid about sunburns. Like a previous poster (except she's a Seminole and I'm a GATOR :cheer2: ) - I grew up in FL and remember burning to a crisp in the FL sun, even with sunblock! And I'm not fair like my kids.
Anyway, another poster recommended the single ray shade for your side by side double...I tried it with a Chicco double and the single did not fit well enough. I bought a double ray shade - found the best price at babybungalow.com - though I was watching some auctions on ebay and saw a couple that had good prices as well.

I'd invest - I think they are worth the price. It doesn't take long for the little ones to burn.

We bought a RayShade before our recent trip to Disneyland for DD's first trip. I'm so happy we bought it as the sun was pretty intense for those four days.

It was nice that it could be stretched and adjusted to cover different areas like if the sun was setting. Without it, her legs were always exposed but with it, she was literally covered head to toe.

Here is the one we bought: http://www.onestepahead.com/product/86214/325762/117.html

It looks like they have them for twin strollers too.
