This sounds like a strange question, but I am trying to figure out if I need to bring bug spray on our trip in 11 days. I am assuming that I will not need it for the parks, but I have heard that there are a lot of bugs at Fort Wilderness, and I would like to to the campfire, so I just want to be prepared. Plus I have heard about the bugs at AKL on the balconies. I don't know if that is only for the summer, or for the spring also.
Thanks.

Last summer I took the Avon sunscreen that has citronella as an insect repell. in it with me to WDW. It worked really well. We didn't have a big insect issue but once and awhile they came out and nibbled on my ankles.

Definitely! I forgot to spray my legs one day and got about 20 mosquitoe bites (I wore shorts)!

Just sitting outside on a hammock at CBR a few years ago in May I got a yucky, itchy spider bite! :earseek: If you are going to be outside at night, its not a bad idea.

We've never had a problem in the parks, but I take it for the resort, and in your case you will definitely need it at FW :)

Mosquitos are out full force already. My DD got bit on the eye last night by one and her eye swelled shut. Bring your repellant!

Definately bring repellants. Most Disney resorts have little ponds and water = mosquitos.. The parks are never that bad though.

We've gotten lots of skeeter bites waiting for Illuminations. Bring the spray.

who makes those i have never seen them? are the deet free for the kids/toddler/infants?
I found them in the camping section of Target..do not know
the brand, but I will look when I get home tonight and let you
know. I do know that they are not deet free..seems to me
I saw something for the little guys in the same section where
you would find sunscreen, etc. I figured the wipes would be
good though, you could control the amount / area better
than with a spray...(as well as avoid that nasty bug spray
taste in your mouth :crazy2:

Avon has all deet free bug sprays that are safe for kids. I'm an Avon Rep. In the Campaign 8 brochure - they have their Bug Guard products on sale.

They have:

Bug Guard Plus Pump Spray with or w/o SPF 15 - $4.99
Bug Guard Plus Lotion SPF 30 - $4.99
Bug Guard Plus Expedition Sunscreen Spray SPF 15 - $5.99
Bug Guard Plus Aerosol - $5.99
Bug Guard Plus Towelettes SPF 15 - $5.99 - pack of 8

We always carry a small bottle in our bag to the parks, sometimes when that sun goes down things get REAL itchy!

Definitely bring whatever you find works for you. We were at AKL last year during the last week of April. I had marks from the bites for almost a month afterwards, and the itching lasted much longer than mosquito bite itching usually does. I believe the bites where some other kind of fly or something, not mosquitoes.

Wow. I had not idea how bad it was. I am glad that I asked now! I keep seeing the combination bugspray/sunscreen has anyone tried that? I don't know what brand it is.

Do you still have to rub in the wipes after you wipe it on?

They hate the suncreen application part so I am hoping that it will be easier than that. It would be great if it was a one shot deal. I just bought some spary suncreen, but it just sparys out a blob of lotion, so it is useless from the other kind. I was looking for the aerosol copertone spray someone was refering to the other day.

I will definitly go and look at the wipes.

Thanks for all of the replies :flower:

We are going in May is this a high season for them? Will we need more than the Avon insect repellant? any ideas or extra advice? greatly appreciated
