Do I need to mail a gift?

I just realized that I didn't think to get a gift for someone I work with at our FL office. I live in NY. I usually chip in with another girl to send her flowers on her birthday. I think we skipped this year. I think she shipped an Xmas gift to me last year. This is not my supervisor, or a close friend (in the normal sense of the word). Would it be bad if I didn't do something?

No, it wouldn't be bad. Send her a card if you want to acknowledge her but don't feel obligated to do anything. (This is the problem when you start giving gifts to co-workers - it's hard to stop.)
