Do I need to bring my bicycle?

Hi all!
Packing to leave day after tomorrow for arrival at the Fort Saturday, 12/5. I can't decide if I want to haul the bicycle down or not. It would mostly be used for riding around when not at parks and would be mostly kept at the campsite locked up. Wouldn't be leaving it at the Settlement for trips to parks, the bus is fine to get there. It's a fairly expensive bike so will be definitely locked up.

Last time I was at the Fort, I had a much smaller car and left the bike at home, didn't really miss it. I've requested loop 2000 for the first time to see 'how the other half lives', any input on whether I need to stuff it in the car or not? I would have to remove the Element seats to make room and I'm trying to talk myself out of it.

If you have the room and aren't renting a golf cart bring them a great way to see everthing going on at the fort. The bus system is ok but it suck for looking around

Well, it sounds to me like you don't want to pack it. But I would think you would enjoy having it once you get there. Have you looked at the bike carriers that strap to the back of the vehicle? Those versions are not very expensive and it would make toting your bike down to the Fort much easier.

It can be a pain if you are short on space, but we couldn't go without our bikes. We ride everywhere on them, except when taking the bus the the marina for a park trip. We ride internally and over to WL every day.

We bring our bikes on every trip. How much we use them is a function of how much time we spend in the campground vs. in the parks and what loop we end up in. We don't rent a golf cart, so if we're not a short walk away, we use our bikes to get to the pool, the Settlement and the Meadows trading post, and to explore the campground. I guess if you don't want to bring your bike, renting one would be an option, but we've never done that so I don't know much about it.

I have a bike carrier and a hitch adapter so the carrier and the bike rack can both be put on the hitch. But, this extends the hitch back pretty far and starts levering down the back end of the car when the T@B is hooked up. The T@B has this peculiar handle to open/close the hitch and I'm pretty sure it will hit the bike carrier if I use it.

I think I'll take the suggestions and take it in the car, I probably would miss riding around once I got down there. The seats will come out of the Element, I could fold them up to the sides but then you can't see out to change lanes! First major trip with the trailer so need that visibility.
