I want to try for Disney's BoardWalk Villas Studio Standard View 11/22/2013 - 11/30/2013 : 105 points

But this is what I have:

Use Year: October 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013
Disney's BoardWalk Villas
Available for Use Year 2012
59
Available to Borrow from 2013
150

Do I need to bank these points first by calling MS or will it ask me to do it when I try to book online?

Do I have enough points to "walk" a reservation?

The last time I tried to do something like that, I had to call MS and get them to bank the points before I could use them to make the online reservation. With the recent updates, I'm not sure if that is still true. You could try to do it. When you get to the page where it tells you which points you can use, you either will or won't see your 2012 points there. I believe there is a comment on the right side of the page that says that if you need to bank points, that you have to do that before you make the reservation.

For November 2013 trip, you will need to bank those 2012 points before making your reservation on-line. However, you can bank those points on-line and could do it right now. When you get to main page after signing in, click on "My Vacation Points" link in the right hand column and then on the page that comes up you will be able to find a link that says "Bank Vacation Points" under your contract number.

Thus, after you bank the points on-line you can do the reservation. Also note, you will not be "borrowing" any points from October 2013 use year. Those will be "current " use year points for a Nov 2013 trip. If you go on-line exactly 11 months out, Dec 22, at 8 a.m. eastern you should be able to get your reservation without doing any "walking." However, you will only be able to get 7 of your eight nights reserving exactly 11 months out and you would need to call the next day to add the last night. In any event, you cannot do walking on-line because you cannot drop some days while keeping the rest of a prior reservation on-line. That can only be done by calling MS.

Thank you.
I was having trouble finding the Banking link.
I had actually made a reservation and when it got to the confirmation part that shows your remaining points I realized they were not using those from this UY based on the total before & after. So I cancelled. Now I just tried to bank & there was some type of error.
Do you really thin I don't need to walk for Thanksgiving week?

Though I have not been able to do it for Thanksgiving yet, since on-line booking started Mid-Jan 2012, I have been tracking on a weekly basis the 11 month window for BWV and AKV, the resorts at which I own. I have also been tracking the 7 month window for all WDW resorts to see what really happens. Thus far at 11 months out, you could have gotten BWV standard view without walking the reservation any time of year and that includes Christmas week, Easter weeks, Presidents week, July 4 time, and your wine and dine Oct time. The only units I found for which walking may be needed are AKV concierge. You do not even need it for BWV Grand Villas.

Moreover, what I also found following the 7 month window is that Thanksgiving week does not quite work the way many may think. Though BWV standard studio was gone by then, there was a lot of availability at 7 months out for the Friday through Monday night before Thanksgiving for this year. including you could still get BWV pool garden view, BCV, BLT theme park and lake view, VWL at 7 months out and you could also still get BWV standard and boardwalk 1BRs. It was not until trying to reserve the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving that things started to become more difficult at 7 months out. What that indicates is that if you plan to start vacation on Nov 22, the Fri before Thanksgiving, and reserving Dec 22, you will most likely actually be beating the crowds who mostly won't be calling before Dec 26 to book Thanksgiving time.

I just made an online reservation over the weekend where I needed to borrow points. during the process it calculated the extra points I needed and gave me the option of borrowing them. I double checked that their numbers matched mine and proceeded. It was quick and easy. Not sure if banking points works the same or not, but i was guessung that it would.

Thanksgiving is late next year (November 28), I don't think you need to walk it.

This was my experience. I was able to borrow the points within the reservation system. The prompts were easy to follow. It was quite simple.
