Do I need phone line ?

Hi!
Im considering cancelling my phone line as I really never use it.But I was wondering - do I need to keep a phone line to be able to continue to have my internet?(broadband)

Yes I am sure you will need to pay someone for line rental if your broadband comes through your phone line. Have you considered one of the phone/broadband combos some companies offer?

Hi!
At the moment - I have my phone with NTL (virgin media) and my internet is too.It just seems daft to pay £18 for internet and £12 for phone if they are not seperate!!!

I am pretty sure you have to keep the phone line. We are in a similar situation with Sky and BT - we rarely use the landline, but we have to keep it to get Broadband and Sky tv (I believe the interactive is accessed via the telephone line?

Someone with more technical knowledge than me is bound to give a you more sensible answer

I am with NTL and that is cable - dont know if that makes a difference.But surely the guy would of said that to me!!?I'll have to ring and check I suppose,

I work for Virgin Media... you can have broadband with no other services, plenty of people are cancelling their lines if they don't use them much and using Skype afaik.

Does your NTL connection come via the BT line or is it cable? If via a BT line you still need to pay quarterly for its services even if you don't use a phone.

ADSL via BT lines.

Yes,there is a separate cable line for the phone,so should be no loss and a saving (I hope!)

Promise you, your modem comes through a coax cable and is totally seperate to your phone line, so you can have the one service, though when you phone you may be given an offer to keep the line. If you have any probs PM me and I'll see what I can do, but I am not in any of the call centres.
