Do I need NEW paper tickets?

We had a ComAir flight (which was obviously cancelled) scheduled for June 16. We have been rebooked on different flights with Delta out of DTW. Delta reservation staff told me we needed to go to a Delta ticket counter to get reticketed.

We went to TOL (our original airport) and managed to get even more desirable flights from a very accommodating ticket agent. She did not, however, print new tickets. She did print new itinerary cover pages to our paper tickets and told us that Delta would honor the tickets we had despite the date, flight, and airport change.

I checked the automated Delta reservation system and our itinerary is, in fact, correct. Will we have problems when we get to Metro with the old tickets or should things go smoothly?

If your itinerary is correct in the system you probably won't have any problems. Did you ever receive actual printed tickets from Delta, or is it an e-ticket? If it is a regular ticket, they'll issue you the correct boarding passes when you check in and staple them to you existing ticket. If an e-ticket, then everything is electronic and no physical changes are necessary, they'll just issue a boarding pass at the airport. Also, check your itinerary to make sure seats have been assigned to you.

We have paper tickets in hand--so that's not a problem. I just feel better having the hard copy rather than an e-ticket.

Thankfully, the gate agent snagged our seats as she rebooked our flights. While one leg of the trip was not exactly what I wanted (center section rather than two and two on the aisle and window), I think we can live with it since the plane is nearly full! At least we aren't too far back.
