Do I Need My Reservation Sheets?

Having recently purchased at Boardwalk this will be our first trip to Disney with DVC. Our resale had some points in reservation status so we opted for a split between the Poly and AKL. Now here's the question, in our haste we left for "Grandmothers House" which is very far from home (a days drive) and are planning on leaving directly for our vacation. In my haste I packed everything except all the paperwork for our stay, do I need the sheets DVC sent to me for check in? If not, how do I get past the parking tolls without paying to get to the Poly? By luck I entered the confirmation numbers into my Palm (which I have) I just don't have the sheets.

Merry Christmas. I have always brought my confirmation slips. But, they have never asked for them. The CM just looks it up by name.

Just to second DVC-Don's post.

Sometimes I have them, recently, I haven't. I have never needed them. Even getting in at the guard gate, you only need to say that you are checking in. Once in a while they will check a sheet, but usually they just let you in.

Don't worry, you wil not have a problem.

We have never had any sort of a problem, the reservation system seems pretty dependable.

As posted, you really don't need them at the DVC resorts. I always take them and give to the check in CM. They seemed to like that.

As to getting by the parking fee gate to the MK resorts, I don't know. Maybe someone can answer that has checked thru that gate before they have registered at the Poly or others.

If they charge you to get through the parking gate ($6), I believe you can take the receipt to guest services or the front desk at your hotel and they will reimburse you. As for the guard at the resort, when we got to Boardwalk 3 weeks ago I just gave my name and they checked a list and let us through.

When we were there in Nov we stayed at VWL. Stay to right so you can go to the resorts and tell them you are going to check in we did not have to pay for the parking. We did not have our sheets with us due to last minute changes. Getting to the VWL the guard checked my DL and had a parking sheet for my car already there. I hope this helps and have a great trip.

I've never had a problem going through the tolls without paying when I wasn't going to Magic Kingdom. There are any number of reasons this might happen...you got lost, you are checking into a hotel, you are having a meal at a hotel. Just tell the CM at the toll booth & they will direct you to the proper exit to take right after the toll. I've always admired Disney for the understanding attitude they take towards this sort of thing...at least once every couple of years I miss the turn off for somewhere else & wind up at the tolls.

LOL, in July 2000 on our way from the airport to the Poly we ended up at Epcot! :D The guy at the Epcot toll booth just told us how to get out of the Epcot parking lot, and we were then on our way to the Poly! (we still laugh about ending up at Epcot on our way to the Poly!)

I would bring your reservation sheets .

By mistake DVC had mis-entered my rooms at the beach club in october - They scheduled me for 2 rooms for the 14th-16th instead of 14th-16th and the 18-20th . Luckily I had my conformation .

.. If you don't want to pay just head to Poly by way of Fort Wilderness. You don't go thru a toll booth, just a guard shack who doesn't check anything.

At all my check-ins two weeks ago (ASSp, OKW and CSR) the guards asked for my reservation sheet and a photo ID. They are being very careful right now. For the first check-in all my paperwork was packed in the trunk but the guard made me stop the car and get the papers before letting me proceed.

If you really can't get the paperwork before you leave for WDW, make sure you have ID's ready for the guards. They will check. Even when I went to other Resorts for dinner the guards wanted a photo ID.

As a precaution I called MS today and they said I did not need my sheets, everything will be under my name, so we'll see how it goes.

As I mentioned I was feeling comfortable without my confirmation sheets especially after talking with MS and them saying everything is confirmed and OK. Boy what a big surprise when we got to the Poly about 9:00 AM in the morning and they had absolutely no record of us by name. Luckily I had the confirmation number but unluckily, that wasn't in the system either. They showed my reservation at the AKL later in the week but no record of me at the Poly. After searching for over and hour they finally and trying to call MS because I didn't realize it was Sunday. Someone in the back had the idea to call over to the Boardwalk because they have both reservation systems. Apparently the non DVC resorts can't see into the DVC system. After another 30 minutes they came back and said yup sure enough your in the DVC system but it didn't download into the central reservations system. But there is a happy ending, they booked us a room under the normal reservation systems and assured us they would contact DVC the next morning to assure we would not get stuck with the bill. Of course first thing the next moring I also made the call to DVC and they were also dumbfounded. They had no idea why it didn't download, but anyway everthing was taken care of and we ended up with a magnificent room, Lagoon View, ground floor. The Poly is just exquisite, worthe the 1-1/2 hour wait to check in. When in doubt, bring your confirmation sheets.
